SCOOP 2020 Day 21: Main Event Winners Crowned; Titles for Mateos & O'Dwyer
On what was originally scheduled as the final night of the SCOOP PokerStars 2020 Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) — read all about the SCOOP extension to May 31 here — the biggest tournaments of the series came to their conclusion. And what a night it was!
The three Main Events, with buy-ins of $109, $1,050, and $10,300 all crowned their champions on Day 21 of the series. The low event resulted in a victory for Latvian "auercan", who won $371,751 after striking a three-way deal. In the $1,050 Main Event, Brazil's João "HayashiJoão" Hayashi made a huge score of $920.067 — nearly equal to the first-place prize in the high — after defeating Michael "merla888" Gathy heads-up. The high $10,300 Main Event resulted in a victory for Belarus' "alexgirs", with a detailed reported in a separate article.
Several other big events crowned fitting names as champions as two of the game's very best, Adrian "Amadi_017" Mateos and Steve "Mr. Tim Caum" O'Dwyer, added another title to their poker resumés. Mateos won his second SCOOP-title in SCOOP-79-M: $1,050 NLHE ($164,398), while O'Dwyer notched a second high-roller title in SCOOP-79-H: $10,300 High Roller, after already winning the $25K High Roller earlier this series.

"auercan" Wins SCOOP-74-L: $109 NLHE Main Event After Three-Way Deal ($371,751)
After four days of play,"auercan" from Latvia was the last man standing in the PokerStars 2020 Spring Championship of Online Poker -74-L: $109 NLHE [8-Max, Main Event] after a three-way deal with "UruRey" and "penguy2". He claimed the top prize of $371,751 and the title for navigating through a massive field of 46,238 entries, creating a total prize pool of $4,623,800.
Notable names at the final table were "LOL_U_91", playing from Mexico, and Austria's Manuel "young_diam18" Blaschke, who finished in fourth ($157,465) and fifth ($112,246), respectively.

Joao "HayashiJoão" Hayashi Wins SCOOP 74-M: $1,050 NLHE Main Event ($920,067)
After less than three hours, Joao "HayashiJoão" Hayashi has won the PokerStars 2020 Spring Championship of Online Poker 74-M: $1,050 Main Event for $920,067 be defeating Michael "merla888" Gathy heads-up who claimed $655,853 for his efforts. The 2020 Main Event had the biggest turnout in their history, beating the 2018 record of a 5,508-player field as a whopping 6,475 entries showed up to create a monster prize pool of $6,475,000.
Hayashi overcame a final table which also included the likes of "luelue399", Luis Gustavo "gkamei09" Kamei, "WNDRWMN23", "Oledjan", "Tydarax", Jon "luckyfish89" Clark, and Matheus "mpZancan" Zancan.
The final day went by fast and resulted in a heads-up between Hayashi and Gathy, with the latter sporting a chip lead of over 2:1 coming into the final showdown. Hayashi made a couple of strong calls, a check-raise all in on the river that went through uncontested and then rivered a straight to leave the Belgian professional on a short stack. Gathy's final 12 big blinds went in with queen-jack, Hayashi called with ace-eight and improved to a full house along the way for the biggest win of his career.

Adrian "Amadi_017" Mateos Wins Second SCOOP Title in Event 79-M: $1,050 NLHE
Almost eight hours were needed for Day 2 of the PokerStars 2020 SCOOP-79-M: $1,050 Super Tuesday Special Edition to finish and it was a well-known name that ended with all the chips in front of him. Adrian "Amadi_017" Mateos managed to win his second SCOOP title after besting Bernardo "Machadada RS" Rocha heads-up. Mateos walked away with a $164,398 prize, which was smaller than the $234,030 he had won along with his first SCOOP title on Event #30-H: $2,100 NLHE [6-max], back in 2017.
The event had 937 entries and didn't surpass the $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool that was set. Day 2 started with 88 players and except Mateos and Rocha, Simon "Igorkarkarof" Pedersen was in the final table too.

Steve O'Dwyer Wins SCOOP-79-H: $10,300 NLHE ($241,956)
Steve "Mr. Tim Caum" O'Dwyer added to a strong PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker run with his second title in less than a week.
This time, O'Dwyer shipped SCOOP-79-H: $10,300 NLHE [8-Max, High Roller], $1M Gtd, getting through a small field of 105 entries to bank $241,956. Previously, he'd grabbed one of the bigger prizes of the series by taking the $25K High Roller for $521,598.
The white-hot Connor "blanconegro" Drinan had a bid for an unprecedented sixth SCOOP title in a single series — his five is already a record — end with a seventh-place finish when he bluffed off most of his chips.
