Day 7 of the 2020 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) was a big night for poker, with some of its biggest icons stepping up to the plate. Stealing the spotlight was none other than the 2015 SCOOP Main Event champ Mustapha "lasagnaaammm" Kanit, who won his third SCOOP-title in SCOOP-24-H: $10,300 NLHE High Roller.
Luke "Bit2Easy" Reeves lived up to his moniker as well, as he finished third to Kanit in the High Roller before shipping Event-26-H: $2,100 NLHE [6-Max] for a total payday of $280K. Certainly not bad for a Wednesday!
"lasagnaaammm" Does It Again, Wins Third SCOOP Title in SCOOP-24-H: $10,300 NLHE High Roller
The latest high stakes tournament of the 2020 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) has come to a conclusion and a new three-time SCOOP winner has emerged in Event-24-H $10,300 NLHE High Roller. Mustapha lasagnaaammm" Kanit defeated Sergei "Futti18" Koliakov in heads-up to beat a field of 124 entries and claim the lion's share of the $1,240,000 prize pool, and the Italian claimed a top prize of $271,790.44 for his efforts.
Kanit's first SCOOP victory came back in 2014 when he topped Event #36-H: $2,100 NL Hold'em [Turbo, Re-Entry] for $376,920 and one year later he triumphed in the $10,300 Main Event for $1,304,720. The Italian was in the middle of the pack when the 15 Day 1 survivors returned to their seats but remained his usual jolly self on the final table despite being short-stacked, regularly engaging in table chat with Charlie "Epiphany77" Carrel and also entertaining more than 1,200 observers.
While Carrel was the chip leader at the start of the day and maintained that status with a narrow lead over eventual runner-up Koliakov, Kanit teased that he wasn't far away anymore after he scored a double-up. Carrel missed out on his third SCOOP title and had to settle for fourth place while Kanit then dispatched Luke "Bit2Easy" Reeves in third place and came out on top of a short-lived heads-up duel that lasted all but five hands.
"MaxHendrix" wins SCOOP-24-M, Rui "RuiNF" Ferreira Dominates Player of the Series After Second Place
It would take just over eight hours on the final day of the PokerStars 2020 SCOOP-24-M: $1,050 Super Tuesday Special Edition before a brand-new SCOOP Champion could be crowned in "MaxHendrix" who defeated Rui "RuiNF" Ferreira heads-up. A deal was struck between the two with "MaxHendrix" walking away with $169,485 and the bragging rights. While missing out on the title, Ferreira received both the lion's share of the prize pool and distanced himself further from the pack in the race for Player of the Series, bagging up his fourth final table of the series already just a week in.
This special edition of the Super Tuesday attracted 1,105 entries which didn't surpass the freshly increased $1,250,000 guaranteed prize pool. On the final day, a star-studded field of 72 players returned to battle it out for the lion-share of that pretty prize pool. Also on the final table were players like Luke "lb6121" Schwartz, Scott "Aggro Santos" Margereson, and Ariel "ArielBahia" Celestino.
SCOOP-24-L: $109 NLHE [8-Max, Mini Super Tuesday SE]
There certainly wasn't anything 'mini' about the low edition of SCOOP-24, as a gigantic crowd of 6,577 players put in $109 each to create a total prize pool of $657,700. Argentina's "proggrezive" was the last man standing after two days, padding his Stars account with a massive $93,454 for his accomplishment. Russia claimed the silver and bronze medal, with "33twister33" and "QQueenAAce" winning $65,579 and $46,021 respectively.
