It's Break Time!

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Mike Matusow

The clock has been paused with 20:00 remaining in level 23 and the remaining 185 players have been sent on a 30-minute break. They will return to finish off this level and the blinds will be raised to 25,000/50,000 with a 50,000 big blind ante. Here's a look at what happened recently:

No More Chips for Munteanu

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Gregoire Auzoux raised to 140,000 from the small blind and Bogdan Munteanu three-bet by putting a whole stack of green 25,000-value chips over the line. Auzoux responded with a shove with the bigger stack and Munteanu snap-called for the 1,200,000 or so he had behind which shocked Auzoux a bit.

Bogdan Munteanu: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Gregoire Auzoux: {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

The flop came {8-Spades}{q-Hearts}{a-Spades} for Auzoux to hit a higher pair.

The turn was the {10-Spades} which gave Munteanu some extra outs as he picked up a gutshot to a Broadway but the river completed the board with the {7-Diamonds} for Auzoux to hold and eliminate Munteanu.

Greenwood Bets Big on Turn

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Sam Greenwood was facing off in a pot with Andy Hwang on a board of {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. Picking up the action after Greenwood had checked and Hwang bet, Greenwood decided to flex his muscle and check-raised, bombing a big bet of 830,000 into a pot of roughly 400,000. Hwang checked his cards and paused a minute, but folded fairly quickly as Greenwood continues to add to his stack.

Brunson's Main Event Comes to an End

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Todd Brunson
Todd Brunson

Oliver Bithell and Todd Brunson were heads-up in a pot with around 300,000 in the middle. The board read {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Brunson checked from the big blind. Bithell tossed in a bet of 215,000 in the cutoff and Brunson called.

The river brought the {7-Hearts} and Brunson checked again. Bithell slid out enough chips to cover Brunson's remaining stack of around 500,000. Brunson thought for a moment with his tournament life on the line and made the call. Bithell turned over {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} for a full house while Brunson could only muster {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for two pair.

Shaw Sends Matusow to the Rail

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow

Mike Matusow was all in over on the third feature table with the {a-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and Carl Shaw from one seat over had him dominated with the {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}.

It was a mountain to climb for Matusow after the {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop and he was left drawing dead on the {9-Hearts} turn, a meaningless blank on the river saw Matusow already wave goodbye and he headed to the payout desk.

Bogdanov Wins Big Pot With Jacks

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Yulian Bogdanov opened to 85,000 from early position and was called by Joshua Ray in the hijack. Dean Morrone then three-bet from the cutoff to 260,000 and action folded back around to Bogdanov, who called. Ray then announced he was all in.

Tablemate Antonio Esfandiari added commentary after the shove about how it was an unexpected turn of events. Meanwhile, action was on Morrone and he went into the tank for a bit. He then asked for a count which was totaled to around 1.2 million and thought for a bit more before folding. It wasn't long after that Bogdanov had called and both remaining players were tabling their hands.

Yulian Bogdanov: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Joshua Ray: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Ray's attempt at four-bet squeezing over a three-bet and a call found himself in a dominated situation. The board ran out {6-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Bogdanov's jacks remained best to Ray's unimproved ace-high as he was eliminated from the tournament and sent to join his friends on the rail.

Lech Doubles Through Brinkley

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Michael Lech
Michael Lech

After losing a few pots on the main feature table, Michael Lech limped the small blind and big stack Andrew Brinkley in the big blind raised to 110,000. Lech moved all in for 1,160,000 in total and Brinkley called.

Michael Lech: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Andrew Brinkley: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop gave Lech top pair and Brinkley second pair. Nothing changed on the {6-Spades} turn and the {9-Hearts} river, and Lech doubled to get right back into the mix.
