Christian Zetzsche

Live Reporter

After qualifying for an online poker promotion and subsequently winning the six-max competition in a hotel in Austria more than 20 years ago, Christian Zetzsche participated in two live poker events and cashed in both of them. He was hooked on the game of poker but didn't fancy his chances on the felt, but rather right next to it thanks to his education as a foreign language correspondent.

What followed was a series of freelance jobs before one of his poker friends asked if he knew anyone who could help them with reporting in major live poker events, and that's how Christian's live reporting story started in late 2010. In Spring 2014, he was recruited by PokerNews during the European Poker Tour stop at the Hofburg in Vienna and spent the following summer in Las Vegas as one of the new faces in the reporting team. In more than a decade of live reporting in poker, he has visited more than 50 countries including favorite stops at the Aussie Millions, Irish Poker Open, Japan Open Poker Tour, the Master Classics of Poker, and the close-knit South African poker community.

Christian was the first ever to receive the recognition of Best Live Reporter at the third Annual Global Poker Awards in 2022. During school days, track-and-field runs and table tennis were part of the active lifestyle which has since changed to biking and (Ultra)Marathon running – even in the desert outside of Las Vegas during the WSOP on a rare day off.
