Dannenmann Doubles Up

Two players limp from middle position for 200 each and Steve Dannenmann raises it to 1,500. The action folds around to the first limper from middle position and he re-raises to put Dannenmann all in. Dannenmann wastes no time in calling with the {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}. The other player shows {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}.

The flop comes {Q-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Dannenmann needs to dodge a few more outs now. The turn and river blank with the {5-Clubs} and {4-Diamonds} and Dannenmann is able to double through to 12,250.

Gobar Runs a Big Bluff

On table 20, we saw a big hand develop between Justin Gobar and Zachary Hyman. The board showed {J-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{6-Clubs}{7-Hearts} and Gobar bet 4,000 into a pot of 11,000. Gobar proceeded to state "You really can't value bet in this structure." Hyman tanked for about 5 minutes before finally making a fold. He looked at Gobar and said "Show me the A-5." Gobar proceeded to show the {A-Spades}{5-Spades} to the wows of the table.

Sabyl Cohen All But Out

In another multi-way pot, Sabyl Cohen re-raises her two opponents, sliding her last 8,800 chips into the center of the table. The player to her left has a similar stack size, and eventually decides to wait for another spot. Action is around to the original raiser, who is just barely covered by the all-in bet. He makes the decision rather quickly, and adds his remaining chips to the pot as he turns over {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. Cohen flips over {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}, and the two go racing.

The flop comes {10-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, and the {6-Spades} and {7-Hearts} that follow do nothing for Cohen. After the chips are counted down, she is left with just 250 chips to play with.

Carter Gill Doubles Up

Carter Gill has been fairly active throughout the event. On this hand, Gill raises to 500 from early position. Alan "BodogAri" Engel calls on the button, as does both of the blinds.

The flop comes down {4-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and both the blinds check to Gill. Gill bets out 1,050 and Engel calls. The small blind re-raises 2,500 more to 3,550. The big blind thinks for a while before folding his hand.

With the action back on the original pre-flop raiser, Gill moves all in. Engel folds and the small blind calls the additional 3,250 chips.

Gill says, "I flopped the nuts," as he turns over the {8-Spades}{5-Spades} for an eight-high straight. The small blind declares that he has a double gut-shot straight draw and shows the {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}.

Gill sweats out the turn and river as it comes the {2-Diamonds}, then the {A-Diamonds}. Gill has doubled through and now sits at 16,500.

Three-Way Action

Three players build a large pot pre-flop, and the dealer spreads out the {J-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{10-Spades}. The first player to act pushes all in on a short stack for 2,200. The player in Seat 1 thinks for several minutes before re-raising all in himself, having the table covered. The last player to act, Walter Chambers, of Baton Rouge, LA, counts his stack twice before calling off his last 11,000 chips.

The hands are turned over. The short stack has {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts}, Seat 1 shows {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}, and Chambers coyly tables {2-Clubs}{2-Spades}, giving him bottom set and dominant control of the hand. The turn and river, {3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, fail to improve any hands, and Chambers rakes in a big pot, bringing his stack up to 32,000, while Seat 1 is left with just 1,800 chips.

Set of Fours No Good

On a flop of J-9-4, Mike Browne put a player all in with Q-Q. His opponent showed 4-4 for a set of fours. The turn produced another queen to give Browne a stranglehold on the hand. The river did not produce the miracle case four and Browne's stack moved up to 30,000.

Sabat Chipping Up

Edward Sabat, of Lancaster, CA, has been climbing the leaderboard steadily. In a recent pot, the board shows {6-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}, and his opponent puts in a bet of 1,000. Sabat stares down the player before making a raise to 2,800. The original bettor thinks for several minutes before folding his hand, and Sabat rakes in another pot. His stack of 16,000 chips puts him near the top of the field.
