Tran and Engel

Jimmy Tran
Jimmy Tran
Jimmy Tran is playing a few more hands since the break, and has increased his chip count to 7,600 through picking up small pots.

In his latest hand, Tran made a bet of 600 on the river of an {A-Spades}{2-Spades}{10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} board. The other player in the hand called, and was noticeably disgusted when Tran tabled the {K-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for a pair of kings.

In another hand, Alan "BodogAri" Engel dropped about 1,600 chips when he called a short-stack player's all-in bet pre-flop with 6-6. The player showed 10-10. The flop ran out {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Engel didn't improve on the turn or river. He now sits at around 11,000.

Gavin Smith Laughs it Up

Despite his shrinking chip stack, Gavin Smith appears to be in good spirits. With one limper in front, Smith puts in a raise to 500, and the action folds around to the original limper. After a brief pause, he shoots a glance at Smith, and folds his 7-7 face-up.

Smith looks at his cards, says "You had me," and shows the table his A-K offsuit.

As the dealer washes the deck in preparation for the next deal, Smith reaches into the pile and pulls out three random cards, and flips over a "flop" containing the {A-Spades}.

"Ahhh, I won that one!" he states boisterously.

Call, Bet" and starts to tank. After a couple of minutes, seat six makes the call. Ali flips over {A-Spades}{J-Hearts} and takes a boat ride to a 5,000 pot.

A Big Decision and Short Stack

Gavin Smith has been very active early, and has watched his chip stack steadily dwindle. In the most recent action, Smith tangles with Justin Gobar, of San Antonio, TX. Going to the flop, they have built a pot worth 2,400, as the dealer turns over the first three cards: {Q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}.

Smith bets out 1,500 chips, and his opponent raises it up to 3,500. Smith looks flustered as he riffles through his remaining 3,000 chips, debating his move. After several minutes, Smith folds {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} face up on the table.

After the hand, Gobar told PokerNews that he held 8-8. His stack has grown to 17,500, while Smith has just 3,575 remaining.

Ted Lawson Eliminated

Ted Lawson has been eliminated when his pocket aces were cracked by Rick Drury's pocket kings. According to Drury, Lawson played the hand correctly, but was just unlucky.

Allie Prescott Doubles Up

Five players saw the flop of {3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}.

On the flop, Allie Prescott bet 1,200 and was called by the six seat. The eight seat thought for a moment while staring down Prescott's chips. Prescott told him, "I have 3,375 left." The eight seat then went all in. Prescott called and the six seat got out of the way. Allie held 10-10 versus 8-8 for the player in seat eight. The turn and river cards missed both players and Allie doubled up to about 9,000.
