Loeser Remains in Commanding Lead

Level 33 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Manig Loeser raised the button with the {j-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and he was called by Wei Huang in the small blind with the {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Viktor Katzenberger in the big blind with {a-Hearts}{3-Spades}. On the {k-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop, the blinds checked to Loeser and his continuation bet of 500,000 won the pot.

Two Hands With Katzenberger

Level 33 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Viktor Katzenberger raised to 500,000 on the button with {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Wei Huang defended {q-Spades}{9-Spades}. The {k-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs} brought a flush draw for Huang and he checked. Katzenberger bet 350,000, Huang check-raised to 950,000 and that was the end of the hand.

Manig Loeser received the same hand next and raised to 500,000 on the button with {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Katzenberger was in the big blind this time and peeled with {9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. It paid off as the Hungarian caught gin on the {6-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop, which both players checked.

Katzenberger didn't come out of the woodworks yet on the {a-Diamonds} turn and Loeser checked behind once again. Katzenberger overbet the {2-Diamonds} river with 1,500,000, Loeser briefly considered the queen-high but folded shortly after.

Level 33 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Viktor Katzenberger raised to 500,000 with the {k-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Wei Huang called with the {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} in the big blind. The {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{4-Spades} flop and the {3-Diamonds} turn were checked. Huang checked the {k-Clubs} river and Katzenberger bet 550,000 to see Huang make the call and take a small hit to his stack.

Loeser Distances Himself

Level 33 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Wei Huang raised to 500,000 on the button with {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and Manig Loeser defended {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}. The flop came {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Huang continued for 300,000. Loeser called out of position with the overcards and hit one on the {10-Hearts} turn.

Loeser checked and Huang bet a second time, this time for 400,000. Loeser check-called once again to see the {6-Diamonds} fall on the river. Both players checked the river and Loeser took it down with the higher pair.

Ryan Riess Eliminated in 4th Place (€265,620)

Level 33 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante
Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

Down to his last 1,125,000, Ryan Riess moved all in from the small blind and Wei Huang called in the big blind, then walked to the rail

Ryan Riess: {q-Clubs}{3-Spades}
Wei Huang: {j-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

The {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{q-Spades} flop all but sealed the double for Riess, but the cruel {10-Diamonds} turn and {k-Hearts} river run out gave Huang a straight and Riess was eliminated in 4th place for €265,620.

Riess Chops With Loeser

Level 33 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Manig Loeser raised to 500,000 with the {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and called the shove of Ryan Riess for 1,325,000 with the {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}. The board came {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and Riess had to settle for a split pot.

Viktor Katzenberger jammed the next button with the {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} and Riess had to fold an eight-high.

Huang Gets Value From Katzenberger

Level 33 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Viktor Katzenberger raised to 500,000 with the {j-Clubs}{10-Spades} and Ryan Riess defended the {6-Spades}{5-Diamonds} to see a flop of {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades}. Riess checked and folded to the jam of Katzenberger to drop below 1.5 million in chips.

Katzenberger raised to 500,000 once more the next hand with {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and Wei Huang called with {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. The flop brought {j-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Spades} and both players checked. After the {3-Clubs} turn, both players checked once more and Huang bet the {4-Diamonds} river for 300,000. Katzenberger reluctantly sigh-called and Huang claimed the pot.

Nicola Grieco Eliminated in 5th Place (€206,590)

Level 33 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante
Manig Loeser and Nicola Grieco
Manig Loeser and Nicola Grieco

On hand #197 of the final table, more than nine hours after Luis Medina had busted in sixth place, it was Nicola Grieco who shoved all in for 1,475,000 on the button. Manig Loeser was in the big blind and considered calling off the six big blind shove.

"I'm gonna gamble," he said after twenty seconds.

Nicola Grieco: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Manig Loeser: {8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

Rainer Kempe, who had just won the €25,000 High Roller, came over to support Loeser. The {8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop was as perfect as they'd come for the German high staker, and Grieco got up from his chair. The {j-Diamonds} on the turn sealed it for Loeser, which rendered the {a-Diamonds} on the river moot.

There were plenty of players at risk over the course of nine hours, but finally, one of them was gone from the EPT Main Event. Grieco took home €206,590 for finishing in 5th place.
