Heder Finds a Double Up Into the Lead

Level 36 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

Mick Heder opened to 800,000 in the hijack with {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and was called by Marian Kubis with {a-Spades}{q-Clubs} and Avraham Dayan with {9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} in the blinds. The flop fell {j-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Spades} and Dayan led out for 1,300,000 from the big blind. Heder just called and Kubis laid his hand down.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and Dayan tossed in another bet of 2,500,000. Heder thought for a minute before shoving all in for 6,100,000. Dayan asked for a count before making the call.

Heder was in a great position to double up and the {8-Hearts} on the river confirmed it for him. With that pot, Heder has passed Dayan and taken over the chip lead.

Alessandro Pezzoli
Alessandro Pezzoli

Alessandro Pezzoli shipped all in for 2,200,000 in middle position and Avraham Dayan just called on the button as the big stack. The blinds folded and the two hands were on their backs.

Avraham Dayan: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Alessandro Pezzoli: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

The flop of {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} proved to be no help for Pezzoli who was in need of a nine. The {7-Diamonds} on the turn gave Pezzoli a straight draw but the {k-Clubs} on the river gave Dayan a full house to eliminate Pezzoli in eighth place.
