Aces vs. Kings

Level 22

PLH

In the last hand before the break, action folded to Jan Collado on the button and he raised to 40,000. David Lestock was in the big blind and announced, "Pot." A reraise ensued and all the money got in the pot with Collado being the player at risk.

Collado: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}
Lestock: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}

It was a quite the cooler for Lestock, who immediately began calling for a king. Unfortunately for him, the board ran out {2-Spades}{J-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Spades} and Collado doubled through. The tournament staff is still counting down the stacks, but it looks like Lestock will be crippled. We'll have the officials chip counts very shortly.

When Chip Stacks Collad-o

Level 22

PLO

Carter Gill raised to 32,000 preflop and Jan Collado called in the big blind. Both players checked the {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop before Collado check-raised Gill's 31,000 turn bet to 91,000. Gill make the call and Collando tank-checked the river, Gill checked back and flipped {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} which was good for the entire pot.

Jonas Mackoff Eliminated in 8th Place ($30,040)

Jonas Mackoff (8th Place- $30,040)
Jonas Mackoff (8th Place- $30,040)

Jonas Mackoff raised to 56,000 under the gun and action folded all the way around to Carter Gill on the button. He promptly three-bet to 100,000, the blinds got out of the way, Mackoff moved all for 193,000, and Gill made the call.

Mackoff: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Gill: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Spades}

Mackoff immediately began calling for an ace, no doubt his best bet to win the pot and stay alive. Unfortunately for him, the {J-Spades}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts} flop did not deliver an ace, but it did add a gut-shot straight draw to his list of outs. The dealer burned and turned the {5-Diamonds}, a blank as far as Mackoff was concerned.

Mackoff's supporters were on their feet calling for an ace, but they were silenced when the {9-Hearts} peeled off on the river. Mackoff was eliminated from the tournament in eighth place, for which he earned $30,040.

James On . . . Mackoff

PLH

James Vanneman potted from middle position only to have Jonas Mackoff repot from the cutoff. Vanneman called off for 149,000 total and he discovered he was in a dominating spot.

Vanneman: {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}
Mackoff: {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

Mackoff's camp began calling for a ten, but the {4-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop did not supply their demand. When the {K-Diamonds} hit the turn, the chant for a ten suddenly turned to one calling for a jack. "How about a four or six," Mackoff said, clearly content with a chop.

Call for what they would, it made no difference as the {8-Diamonds} blanked. Vanneman survived to double while Mackoff was left with under 200K.

Breathing New Life into the Gills

Level 22

PLO

Tyler Patterson raised to 32,000 and Carter Gill called before James Vanneman reraised to 115,000 from the small blind. Patterson and Gill both called.

The flop was {J-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Vanneman moved all in, Patterson folded and Gill quickly called off the rest of his chips.

Vanneman: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Gill: {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades}

The turn was the {3-Spades} and the {2-Diamonds} came on the river, Gill's two pair was good and he doubled up to around 690,000

Rami Boukai Eliminated in 9th Place ($23,119)

Rami Boukai
Rami Boukai

PLO

After a very uneventful round of pot-limit hold'em, the game switched to PLO and the action heated up immediately. It began when Rami Boukai, who if you recall won this very event back in 2009, raised preflop only to have Tyler Patterson bully with his big stack by making it 100,000 to go. Action folded back to Boukai and he moved all in for around 150,000 total. Patterson made the easy call and the cards were flipped.

Patterson: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Boukai: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{J-Spades}

The crowd was on its feet after seeing the two quality hands. Boukai knew he was in trouble and would need some help, which he didn't get on the {2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} flop. However, the {10-Hearts} gave him a bunch of chop outs and gave Boukai's supporters some enthusiasm. Unfortunately for them, it would all be for naught as the {2-Hearts} blanked on the river.

Boukai hopes of capturing this title for the second time in three years came to an end as he became our ninth-place finish, good for $23,119.

Schock and Awe

Level 22

PLH

Tyler Patterson raised to 35,000 preflop and got called by Carter Gill, James Vanneman, Mitch Schock and Jonas Mackoff. The {7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} flop was checked to Schock who bet 65,000 from the button, Mackoff made the call and everyone else folded.

On the {Q-Spades} turn, Mackoff checked a second time and then tank-folded when Schock bet 125,000.

Schock turned over {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for complete air.
