The Bank of Hansen

Good loan rates as well
Good loan rates as well
Gus Hansen is being a nice tablemate and giving out double-ups to his fellow competitors, if they're nice.

The first recipient was Peter Costa. Hansen had raised on the turn and Costa had called. The river was dealt, giving us {8-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {9-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds}. Hansen led out for 5,000 and Costa called with {7-Hearts} {9-Hearts} for the straight. Hansen mucked, saying he had a pair.

Costa up to 32,000 as a result.

Hansen then doubled up another player after getting it all in preflop with {K-Spades} {Q-Spades} versus an opponent's {K-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}. The case king fell on the river, confirming the pot was heading away from the Dane.

Hansen now on 110,000.

We caught up to this hand on the turn. Bill Chen had his whole stack in the middle on a board of {8-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {2-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}. Chen had a strong holding, with the {5-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} but was behind the {A-Clubs} {3-Clubs} of Adam Zinn.

The {9-Spades} on the river didn't pair the board and Chen hit the rail. Zinn climbed to about 110,000 on the hand.

Braband Wins Race

Tom Braband called an opponent's all-in preflop with A-K while his opponent had pocket tens. The board ran {6-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {K-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {6-Spades} and Tom made two pair, kings and sixes to best his opponents tens and sixes.

Migdol Outflopped

Michael Migdol made an opening raise from the small blind and the big blind promptly moved all in.

"Can I call you a thorn in my side now?" wondered Migdol aloud as he pondered his decision.

Ultimately, he made the call, turning up {A-Hearts} {Q-Spades} to the big blind's {K-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}. The flop, though was {K-Spades} {J-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}, pairing his opponent's king. The turn was the {6-Clubs} and the {K-Clubs} fell on the river, making him trips. Migdol lost the 24,000 pot and now sits with 59,000.

Adam York Brings a Kicker to the Party

On a flop of {Q-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {5-Clubs}, Adam York was heads up with a single opponent, who moved all in. York had the player covered and thought for a bit. He eventually made the call and showed {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs}, which bested the {K-Spades} {Q-Spades} of his opponent.

The turn and river were blanks and York won the pot. He shook the hand of the player he eliminated who told him, "Next time, call the all-in faster."

"I have to think," replied a confused York. York now sits on about 57,000.

Rhett Butler Doubles Up

With the board reading {10-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {A-Clubs} on the turn, Rhett Butler got the last of his chips in the middle, and got a caller. Butler's {8-Hearts} {8-Spades} were well ahead of his opponent's {6-Hearts} {9-Hearts} and they held up when the {10-Spades} landed on the river.

Butler doubled to 40,000 on the hand.

Cliff Boats Up

Board: {7-Clubs} {2-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}

Cliff Josephy and his opponent got most of their money in on the turn, but when the {7-Diamonds} fell on the river Cliff called his opponent's all-in. His opponent showed {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} for the nut flush, but Cliff turned over pocket nines for the full house. After the hand, Cliff is up to 177,000.

Jacobson Eliminates a Player

Preflop, a player in middle position raised to 2,500 and Randall Jacobson reraised to 7,500. Jacobson's opponent then raised all in to 13,400 and Jacobson made the call.

Jacobson held {A-Spades} {K-Clubs} and his opponent held {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades}.
