Time to Refuel

The clock has struck the end of level 8, and that means it's dinner time for us all. Play will resume in 90 minutes, at 8:41 p.m. local time.

Good Flop, Bad Flop

David Benefield and another player ended up getting all the money in the middle after a {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs} flop. Benefield picked a bad time to flop top pair with {A-?} {K-?}--his opponent had {A-Clubs} {A-Spades} for an overpair and the royal flush draw and when the board ran out {Q-Spades} {4-Spades}, Benefield's stack slipped to 131,000.

Yildiz Climbing the Ladder

According to another player at the table, Diren Yildiz called a player's all-in with {8-Hearts} {7-Hearts} for just under 17,000 and flopped a straight which held up when the board ran out {J-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {9-Spades} {K-Spades} {4-Hearts}.

Before this, Yildiz flopped a straight with {A-?} {3-?} when the flop came down {5-?} {4-?} {2-?} to take a decent pot.

To keep up with playing aggressive poker, Yildiz had another player all in preflop. This time, Yildiz held {K-Spades} {10-Clubs} versus his opponent's {Q-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds}. The board ran out {J-Clubs} {10-Spades} {3-Spades} {A-Clubs} {3-Clubs} and Yildiz scooped another pot to end an opponent's tournament.

Yildiz is of Turkish descent from Belgium. He's been playing very aggressively throughout the tournament and has built his chip stack up to 246,000 at this point. According to Yildiz, he's an amateur who has been playing for nine to ten months. He won his seat here by playing a satellite tournament back in Belgium.

Streak Over - Gabel Eliminated

On the turn, with the board showing {4-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {2-Spades}, Vincent Gabel moved all in and was called by a player in the five seat. Gabel held {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds} and his opponent held {K-Hearts} {6-Hearts}. Only a six on the river would give Gabel a chop, but a {K-Clubs} fell, giving his opponent the hand, and sending Gabel out the door.

A player in middle position opened the action with a raise to 2,400. Action passed around to Phil Hellmuth, seated in the big blind for this hand. He reraised, making it 9,400 to play, and his opponent called.

The flop came down {J-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {5-Hearts}. Hellmuth led out with 7,000 chips, and the other player bumped it up to 20,000. Hellmuth called.

The turn brought the {5-Clubs} and Hellmuth took another stab, pushing out a smallish bet of 11,000. His opponent mucked his hand, and Hellmuth showed {2-Hearts} {4-Hearts} before dragging in the pot.

Andrzejewski Pulls a Queen Out of a Hat

"The Magician" vanishes on day 2b
"The Magician" vanishes on day 2b
Paul Andrzejewski raised from middle position and then Antonio Esfandiari moved all in for 32,000 out of the small blind. Andrzejewski made the call.

Andrzejewski: {Q-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}
Esfandiari: {K-Spades} {K-Clubs}

The board ran out {J-Hearts} {7-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {7-Clubs} and the queen on the turn would be the dagger to end Esfandiari's tournament.

Andrzejewski apologized, to which Antonio responded, "Never say sorry, it's poker."

Snickers!

Preflop, Matt Ross moved all in and was called by another opponent. Ross held {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds}, and another opponent held {9-Spades} {9-Hearts}.

Ross started calling out for an ace preflop and then after the flop hit {3-Spades} {A-Clubs} {8-Diamonds}, he started calling out "Hold!"

The turn fell the {K-Spades} and the river the {J-Clubs}. When the river card hit, Ross exclaimed, "Snickers! Where's the snickers lady?"

After the hand Ross moved up to 49,000 chips.
