Sing With Me, Sing for the Years

David Singer
David Singer
David Singer is chipping up nicely in the early going, picking up pots with good reads and well-timed value bets.

On a flop of {10-Spades} {4-Hearts} {3-Diamonds}, Singer led out for 150 from the small blind and the big blind called. The turn was the {A-Clubs} and Singer check-called 200 from his opponent. The river was the {3-Spades}. Singer checked again, the big blind bet 300 and after a bit of a think, he made the call. Singer's {J-Hearts} {4-Clubs} was good against the big blind's {6-Clubs} {7-Clubs} and he raked in the pot.

A few hands later, Singer was in middle position when the flop came down {7-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds}. The big blind checked, the UTG player bet 350, and both Singer and the big blind called. The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and the action was checked around. The river was the {5-Hearts}. Both players checked to Singer, who bet 1,600. The big blind folded and the UTG player called.

Singer showed {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} and raked in the 5,000 chip pot. He's now up to 28,000 as we approach the first break.

Kim Loses Ground

After an under-the-gun limp, Doug Kim raised it up to 300. Kevin Fitzgibbons called from the button, as did the under-the-gun player. The flop came down {10-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {4-Hearts}. The first player checked, Kim bet 600, Fitzgibbons raised to 1,200. The other player folded and then Kim raised to 4,200. Fitzgibbons moved all in and had Kim covered.

Kim tanked for a few minutes and then folded. Fitzgibbons showed him pocket tens, for tens full of fours.

"Just to show you I wouldn't call you with a garbage four."

Kim is down to 11,000.

Lilholdem, Big Mouth

Chad Batista in Event #29
Chad Batista in Event #29
Chad 'lilholdem' Batista raises to 275 under the gun and a middle-position player calls. A late-position player reraises to 3,000 all in and Batista calls. The MP folds.

Batista shows {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, but the opponent shows {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}. The board runs {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{10-Spades} and the opponent doubles up.

Batista shakes his head and mutters "fish." He doesn't stop there, though, as he begins berating his opponent for a play he made earlier, calling him a bad player, and so on, and so on. A third player jumps into the conversation and tells Batista not to be so harsh.

"I can do whatever the f*** I want," Batista shoots back.

The player who doubled up said, "OK, now you get to sit out."

The floor was called over and the table was told to cool it, but no penalty was given. Batista is continuing to make remarks, though. He's down to 19,000.

The Wits of DeWitt

Team PokerNews player Jesper Hougaard limps under the gun and Jason DeWitt calls next to him. The small blind calls and the big blind checks.

The flop is {2-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and it's checked to Hougaard, who bets 200. DeWitt calls and the blinds fold.

The turn is {5-Hearts} and Hougaard bets 625. DeWitt raises to 1,900 and Hoagaard calls.

The river is {6-Hearts} and Hougaard checks. DeWitt bets 2,100 and Hougaard says, "I wish you'd bet more!" He calls, but unfortunately for him, DeWitt shows {7-Spades}{5-Spades} and Hougaard mucks.

DeWitt is up to 31,000 and Hougaard is down to 16,000.

Kirk Morrison, during Event #11
Kirk Morrison, during Event #11
Kirk Morrison has just been moved to table one, seat six of the blue section of the Amazon Room, but not before a little confusion.

He mistakenly went to table six, seat one and was concerned when he saw that the seat was already occupied by another player.

"Oh shit, I'm looking in the wrong place!" exclaimed Morrison after a helpful floor-person pointed out the subtle difference on his seating card, much to the amusement of the rest of the table.
