Luckshire

Just before the break Bryan Devonshire and an opponent got all the chips in the middle at the turn stage with the board reading {K-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {J-Spades}.

Devonshire turned over {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} for a set and his opponent showed {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}. The river came {J-Spades} to fill Devonshire up and knock his opponent out.

Devonshire up to 50,000 now.

The Streak Continues

Kevin O'Donnell, from Event No. 34
Kevin O'Donnell, from Event No. 34
This hand took place just before players went on break. A player raised in middle position, and Kevin O'Donnell reraised to 1,100 from the button. The MP player called.

Both checked the {7-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} flop. The turn was the {Q-Hearts}. The middle-position player checked, O'Donnell bet 1,625, and his opponent called.

The river was the {4-Spades}. Again, the MP player checked, and this time O'Donnell bet 2,100.

When he was called, O'Donnell announced, "I've never ever won at the World Series of Poker with this hand," turning over {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}. Not this time, either, as his opponent showed {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}. O'Donnell has slipped to 14,000.

The Greek Accumulating

Archie Karas, during Event #14
Archie Karas, during Event #14
Archie "The Greek" Karas is another notable player in today's field and he recently took down a couple of nice pots.

In the first hand he fired bets on the flop and turn, before checking the river on a board of {10-Spades}{K-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Karas showed down {K-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} to scoop the pot.

A few minutes later, he raised preflop, before betting the flop and turn on a board of {5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. His opponent couldn't stand the heat and folded his hand.

It's great to see Archie playing today and it will be fascinating to watch how deep he can go. He's off to a good start, as he heads to the break with about 26,000 chips.

Tiffany Michelle Not Just a Pretty Face

Tiffany Michelle
Tiffany Michelle
PokerNews' very own Tiffany Michelle was just involved in a noteworthy pot as we approach the first break. She limped in for 100 from the button, and the small blind raised it up to 500. She called, and the two of them went heads up to the flop.

It rolled out {7-Spades} {2-Clubs} {6-Spades}. The small blind bet out 1,000, and Tiffany made the call.

The turn brought the {A-Hearts}. Tiffany fired out 2,500 chips, only to see her opponent raise to 9,000. She called the extra to see one more card.

Fifth street was the {10-Spades}. Grabbing a stack of chips, Tiffany bet out 10,000, enough to scare away her competition. As she was being pushed the pot, Tiffany flashed the {3-Hearts} {6-Hearts} and began stacking those checks. She has worked her way up to 38,000 in the first level, and heads out of the room to take her break just a couple minutes early.

Aces Good for Levi

We picked this pot up on the turn, with the board reading {K-Spades} {5-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}. An early-position player bet 1,000 into the 4,000 pot, Nicolas Levi raised to 3,000 from middle position, and the EP player called. When the river came the {A-Spades}, the EP player checked, Levi bet 5,500 and the EP player called.

Levi turned up {A-Clubs} {A-Spades} and his opponent mucked. He's now up to 33,000.

Kitai Fit to be Tied

Event No. 38 bracelet winner Davidi Kitai raised to 250 from under the gun, and got two callers -- the cutoff and the small blind. The flop came {J-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{4-Spades}. Kitai bet 600, the cutoff called, and the small blind folded.

The turn was the {Q-Diamonds}. Kitai bet 1,150, and again was called.

The river was the {2-Spades}. This time Kitai checked, and his opponent promptly tossed two 1,000 chips into the middle. Kitai rechecked his cards, exhaled, and went into the tank for three minutes. He looked across the table, then made the call.

Kitai's opponent quickly flipped over {A-Spades}{10-Spades} -- he'd turned Broadway. Kitai acknowledged he was beat and tossed his cards in the muck. He's down to 5,700.

Berger Takes Bite

Fred Berger, during Event #3
Fred Berger, during Event #3
Fred Berger just took down a nice pot, after firing 5,000 on the river on a board of {9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Spades}. His opponent made a reluctant fold, got up out of his seat and walked away from the table as Berger flashed {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} for the nuts. After a minute or so his opponent came back and begrudgingly said, "Nice hand."

Berger is now up to 22,200 chips.
