Duhamel Doubles Through Haxton

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Isaac Haxton opened to 60,000 under the gun with {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and Jonathan Duhamel re-raised all in for 649,000 with {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} on the button. Action folded back to Haxton and he called.

The {9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop gave Duhamel a straight-flush draw and sure enough, the {2-Diamonds} turn locked up the pot for Duhamel with the straight flush. The {A-Spades} river was merely a formality as Duhamel took down the pot.

It's Always Funner

Nicolas Fierro squeezed out {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} in the middle seat, and he opened to 70,000. Over in the small blind, Isaac Haxton was dealt {A-Hearts} {10-Spades}, and he paused to consider. The last 691,000 of his chips eventually went in as he declared his intentions, and Fierro made the easy call to put Haxton in a bad spot.

The {5-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {J-Hearts} flop was a miss, but there were "a lot of interesting turn cards," as someone at the table said. The {Q-Diamonds} only served to flip-flop his outs, and Haxton was drawing dead to Boadway with one card to come.

Sure enough, though, the suicide {K-Hearts} dropped off the deck like a bolt of thunder, and Haxton spiked lucky to earn the come-from-behind double. It moves him back around the chip average with 1.432 million, while Fierro has been knocked all the way back to 808,000.

Govert Metaal Eliminated in 6th Place ($181,300)

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Govert Metaal - 6th place
Govert Metaal - 6th place

Govert Metaal shoved for 272,000 under the gun holding {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. Jonathan Duhamel called on the button with {A-Spades}{9-Spades}, but Nicolas Fierro looked at {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} in the small blind. He re-raised all in and chased Duhamel out.

The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{J-Hearts}, no help to Metaal and ending his tournament in sixth place.

Bilokur Showing Tight Aggression

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Jason Koon raised under the gun with {K-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}, making it 54,000 to go. On the button, Leonid Bilokur woke up with {A-Clubs} {A-Spades}, and he reraised to 116,000 with position. Nicolas Fierro was in the big blind with {6-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}, but he decided to lay it down rather than being stuck in the middle. Koon made the call, though, and off they went to the flop.

It came {2-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {K-Hearts}, and Koon check-called a 115,000-chip continuation bet. That brought them to the {6-Clubs} turn, and Bilokur fired another 270,000 at the pot. Koon check-called fairly quickly once again, and the {9-Hearts} completed the board. When it did, Bilokur shoved all in for the ~1.1 million chips Koon had left.

Koon said something like, "I was for sure calling," quietly, but he wasn't so sure he wanted to call off his whole stack. He tried to make some small talk with Bilokur, furrowing his brow and trying to work out what was what. After a couple minutes, he laid it down.

"Was it a bluff?" he asked as the players stepped away from the table for the break.
