Morin Doubles Through Subtil

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Kevin MacPhee was under the gun and he raised the action to 1,400. Action folded all of the way around the table to Pierre Morin on the button and he cut out a three-bet to 4,750. Paulino Subtil was in the small blind and he four-bet all in for roughly 42,000. MacPhee folded and Morin snapped him off for his own tournament life of what looked to be 36,750.

Subtil: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Morin: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

The board fell down {7-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{A-Clubs}{4-Spades}, giving Morin a winning set of aces. Morin doubled to roughly 76,000 while Subtil was crippled to just 5,100.

It's Getting Cold on Table 13

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Vladimir Troyanovskiy
Vladimir Troyanovskiy

Rob Strong told us about a big hand he played with Vladimir Troyanovskiy two to his right.

Troyanovskiy opened to 1,100 from the hijack in that hand (in the level before this one), and his neighbor in the cutoff made the call. Rob Strong on the button squeezed to 3,500 and just Troyanovskiy made the call, the cutoff folded.

Troyanovskiy check called a 4,400 bet on {A-}{K-}{8-} with two clubs, and check called another 8,600 on the {5-Hearts} turn. The river was an off suit {4-} and Troyanovskiy check called 14,400 from Strong.

Strong tabled pocket aces for top set, Troyanovskiy mucked {A-}{K-} for top two pair.

Set of Treys for Aido

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Sergio Aido and Ibrahim Ghassan were engaged in a hand with the board reading {3-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. Aido checked fourth street, allowing Ghassan to lead for 3,625. Aido called and the {8-Hearts} finished off the board.

Aido checked once again and Ghassan quickly knocked the table back, rolling over {J-Spades}{j-Clubs} in the process. Ghassan's jacks were no good, however, as Aido showed a winning set of treys with {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. Aido pulled the pot and now has 117,000 to his name.

No Back-To-Back Title for Koutoupas

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Sotirios Koutoupas
Sotirios Koutoupas

"I just busted," Sotirios Koutoupas said on his way out of the tournament area. He then quickly walked back to grab the iPad that he had forgotten below his seat and then told us what happened.

Evangelos Tsaris had opened to 1,400 and was called by two opponents before the EPT 10 Deauville champion moved all in for 8,800 out of the big blind. Only Tsaris called with pocket kings and Koutoupas couldn't find a miracle with pocket threes.

The Greek was still smiling even upon elimination though. "He is a friend," Koutoupas added, referring to his countryman.

Loosli and Benelli Gone

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Andrea Benelli was all in and at risk preflop for his last 11,725 chips and received a reshove all in by Matas Cimbolas, which scared off the other opponents at the table. Benelli needed help with {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts} against the {A-Clubs} {K-Hearts} of the Lithuanian but the board ran out {8-Hearts} {K-Spades} {5-Spades} {J-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}.

Sylvain Loosli was down to less than 12,000 chips and committed those with {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts}. Cyril Ben Soussan had him covered and also the better hand in {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} to score the knockout after a board of {4-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {5-Diamonds}.

Wrang Was Wrong

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

On a board of {3-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{A-Spades} it was Jannick Wrang who bet out from the under the gun position. The small blind wasn't super happy about it, but he did snap call before we could tell how much the pot and the bet was. Wrang showed {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs} for trips, the small blind tabled {4-Hearts}{4-Spades} for a full house and Wrang was left with 14,400.

We saw Joep van den Bijgaart sitting on the rail, sipping on some red wine. He busted in the last level of the day. His country man Micha Hoedemaker is busy making a big comeback. He doubled once, and won some smaller pots to get back to average.

The Hunt for the Big Stacks

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

David Jaoui opened to 1,200 and then called the three-bet of Pavel Gonchakov for 3,125, heading to a heads-up flop of {K-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {3-Clubs}. Jaoui check-called a bet of 3,200 and both then checked the {4-Spades} turn. On the {10-Hearts} river, Jaoui bet 7,400 and was snap-called by Gonchakov with {A-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}. The Frenchman flipped over the inferior {3-Spades} {2-Spades}.

Gonchakov is one of the several players above 100,000 in chips, the race for the chip lead is rather tight though.

Six More Hands

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

It has just been announced that there will be six more hands of play tonight before action wraps up for the day.

Morin and Nassif with Queens

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

On a flop of {7-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} with 22,000 chips in the middle, Pierre Morin led out for 11,350 chips and was called by Gabriel Nassif before Dario Sammartino folded and headed to the rail to talk with friends. The {9-Diamonds} turn and the {K-Diamonds} river were checked through and Morin flipped over {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}. Nassif had the same hand in {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} and they chopped the pot.
