Mt. Bevand Gets Taller

Bevand and his T1,000s
Bevand and his T1,000s
Manuel Bevand made it 18,000 to go under-the-gun. Mikhail Smirnov three-bet to 43,000 from the cutoff, and after awhile, Bevand slid out a call. It wasn't quite right, but the dealer straightened out the mess. Bevand has been playing only with red T1,000 chips all day, giving him giant stacks and big bets.

The flop came {8-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {5-Diamonds}, and both players checked. After the {3-Spades} on the turn, Bevand bet 55 chips, and Smirnov folded.

I'll Have Some Check-Raisin for Lunch

We caught up with the action when Nick Schulman bet 37,500, about two-thirds pot, on a board reading {K-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}. Nikita Nikolaev, his only opponent, called on the button. The river brought the {K-Hearts}, and Schulman checked. Nikolaev bet 57,000, and Schulman pulled out the check-raise, adding 100,000 on top. Nikolaev went deep into the tank, finally counting out the calling chips. And then promptly folding. The pot put Schulman around the 900,000 mark.

Lex's Nemesis

The battle was between Lex Veldhuis and Aleh Plauski again this time. Veldhuis made it 18,500 from the cutoff and was called by Plauski in the big blind.

The flop brought {j-Clubs}{7-Spades}{k-Spades}.

The two checked to the turn, which was the {6-Clubs}.

Plauski fired off 32,000 and was called by Velhuis.

River: {2-Spades}

Veldhuis called a 65,000 bet from his opponent after some thought and was not happy to see his opponenet's {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}.

Kelopuro Kinged

A player under-the-gun made it 18,500 preflop and it was folded around to Sami Kelopuro who made the call from the big blind.

Flop: {5-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs}

Kelopuro checked and was faced with a bet of 26,000. He made the call and the {k-Spades} hit the turn.

The two checked, bringing the {a-Spades} on the river and it was checked again. Kelopuro mucked his cards when his opponent showed {k-Hearts}{4-Hearts}.

Owen Crows No More

Owen Crowe just got eliminated after pushing with {8-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} but ran right into David Paredes' {A-Clubs} {A-Spades} on a {6-?} {6-?} {K-?} {J-?} {10-?}.

Unlike yesterday where {8-?} {8-?} were cracking overpairs for fun (and flopping quads frequently) things have returned to a certain degree of normalcy.

Lex Loses One

Lex Veldhuis made it 19,000 to go preflop and Aleh Plauski in seat four made the call.

Flop: {j-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

Veldhuis made it 27,500 before Plauski bumped it up to 70,000. Veldhuis made the call and the turn brought the {10-Clubs}.

Veldhuis checked. Plauski asked for a count of Veldhuis' chips and then moved all of his chips in the middle. Veldhuis folded and is down to 243,500.

FunkiMunki in a Funk

Greg "FunkiMonki" Dyer opened to 20,000 on the button and gave it up to a three-bet. A few hands later, he again raised to 20,000. The small blind, Lauri Meidla, moved all in for a total of 94,000. "Guess I have to call," grumped Dyer. "Calling it off again." He flipped over {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts}, a 70/30 dog to Meidla's {A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}. It was much worse than that after the {J-Spades} {7-Clubs} {3-Clubs} flop, and the {K-Diamonds} turn and {10-Clubs} river didn't help. Dyer fell to 97,000 after doubling up Meidla.

Vaserfirer Fired

Oleksander Vaserfirer moved all in under the gun, and he was only one player away from winning the blinds and antes. But Kevin MacPhee looked down at {A-Hearts} {K-Spades} in the big blind and snap called.

The flop came {A-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {6-Hearts}. After the {8-Hearts} on the turn, Vaserfirer picked up three nines as outs and lost one of the tens, but the {3-Spades} on the river was neither. The dealer counted out the stacks and determined that MacPhee's 135,000 just had Vaserfirer covered, eliminating the Ukrainian.
