The EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo later set the record as the largest poker tournament ever held in Europe, with a prize pool of €2,110,000. Dutch player Rob Hollink won the tournament, getting €635,000.

This year, the PokerStars blog went online and PokerStars sent 1,025 players to the WSOP in Las Vegas.

PokerStars moved its headquarters to the Isle of Man this year after receiving its gaming license there. Just after, the WCOOP had a prize pool that was more than double its previous year: over $12 million.
