In a few weeks, the poker world will descend on Las Vegas for the $10,000 World Poker Tour Five Diamond World Poker Classic (Dec. 10-15) at ARIA. A couple of days before it, there will be another, more affordable tournament right across the road.

The Charity Series of Poker’s (CSOP) 18th charity event will take place on Saturday, December 8 at Planet Hollywood’s Mezzanine. The $300 buy-in ($100 rebuys and $100 add-ons) CSOP18 is being called the “Knights of the Poker Table” because they're joining forces with the Golden Knights Foundation.

'Knights of the Poker Table' Event Agenda

As such, at noon will be a Vegas Golden Knights Official Watch Party – they’re playing at the Los Angeles Kings that day – at Planet Hollywood complete with an appearance by team mascot Chance, the Golden Aces, Knight Line Presented by Drumbots, and the Golden Knight. Those in attendance at the watch party will have free chances to win a variety of Vegas Golden Knights prizes.

The watch party will be followed by an open bar reception with appetizers from 3:00-4:30 p.m. PT. The charity tournament, which will offer a $10,000 entry into the 2019 World Series of Poker Main Event, will then begin at 4:30 p.m. PT.

There will also be VGK prizes available at the Final Table and in the silent auction, 10 Bounty Prizes on certain Featured Guests, and $1,000 cash bonuses for the Rebuy Leader and Chip Leader.

“I'm a lifelong hockey player and die-hard hockey fan who was already a Golden Knights season ticket member when the team came to me and asked me to run their charity poker events,” said CSOP founder Matt Stout. “I was absolutely blown away and am honored to be entrusted with organizing events that bring fans, poker players, and our hockey team closer together while playing the game we all love for a great cause.”

Daniel Negreanu, arguably poker’s biggest Golden Knights fan, will emcee the charity event. Other poker guests who will be in attendance are reigning WSOP Main Event champ John Cynn, LFG Podcast co-host Jamie Kerstetter, Lacy Jones, Jo Kim, Randall Emmett, Lexy Gavin, and Matt Savage, who won the CSOP event at Planet Hollywood over the summer.

Additionally, veteran Hollywood actor and stuntman Kane Hodder will be there. Hodder is a legend in the horror genre thanks in no small part to playing Jason in four of the Friday the 13th movies. That’s just a small sample of his work as he has over 130 acting credits and 105 doing stunts.

CSOP Knights of the Poker Table

Poker for a Good Cause

Since it was created in 2014, the CSOP has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities like Three Square Food Bank and The Conine Clubhouse. In December, they’re going to do what they can for the Golden Knights Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that serves as the primary charitable link between the NHL's newest team and the Las Vegas community.

Through corporate sponsorships, ticket sales, signature events, in-game programs, and merchandise sales, the foundation supports a variety of Las Vegas non-profits. At its core, the foundation focuses on five priorities:

  • Fostering the physical, social, and emotional growth of Las Vegas youth, with an emphasis on sports.
  • Making sustainable, scalable positive impact on health and wellness through research, education, and prevention.
  • Enhancing teaching and learning through K-12 public school programs and initiatives designed to develop leadership and promote community service.
  • Securing the future of Las Vegas military, first responders, and their families, especially those who have suffered a sacrifice for the greater good.
  • Fighting hunger and homelessness in the Las Vegas community by addressing their root causes.
