Anton Wigg Joins Martin Jacobson as Wingman in 888poker's 8-Team
888poker announced in April that for the second straight year they would be hosting the 8-Team competition during the World Series of Poker Main Event.
The contest will feature six teams, each with an 888poker ambassador as a captain, a wingman, and an online qualifier. 888poker is the main sponsor of this year's WSOP again, and qualifying for the Main Event can be done right now. All you need to do in order to be eligible for participating in the 8-Team promotion, is qualify online on 888poker. The Captains will choose from the list of players from their country.
The captains of the teams were reveiled last month:

---|---|
Team Brazil | Vivian Saliba |
Team Canada | Parker “Tonka” Talbot |
Team Germany | Dominik Nitsche |
Team Spain | Marti Roca de Torres |
Team Sweden | Martin Jacobson |
Team United Kingdom | Chris Moorman |
Anton Wigg Announced as Team Sweden Wingman
A couple of weeks ago, Niall Farrell joined Team UK as a wingman alongside captain Chris Moorman. Bruna Unzueta joined Vivian Saliba as wingwoman for Team Brazil. On Tuesday, 888poker announced that Anton Wigg will be joining Team Sweden as a wingman alongside 2014 WSOP Main Event champion Martin Jacobsen.
The remaining three wingmen and the identities of the six online qualifiers will be revealed in the near future.
Wigg is one of Sweden's most successful live and online poker tournament players.
His $2.3 million in live poker cashes ranks him second on The Hendon Mob Sweden All Time Money List with his biggest cash coming in the 2010 EPT Copenhagen Main Event for DKr 3,675,000 ($672,818). In addition to his Main Event win, Wigg also has found gold in nine EPT side events and the WSOP Circuit Seminole Hard Rock $3,250 High Roller in October 2017 for $111,719.
Wigg is perhaps even better known in online tournaments. According to his PocketFives profile page under the alias "AnteSvante", Wigg has amassed more than $7.9 million in online tournament cashes and was ranked as high as the second-best player in the world in 2015. The Swede's best online result came almost a decade ago in April 2009 when he outlasted a massive field of 7,594 entrants in the Sunday Million to win $227,820.
More About 888poker's 8-Team
Each member of the winning team in the 8-Team competition will be lavishly awarded a package for the 2019 WSOP Main Event. There will be tons of railing for players on each team that go deep in this year's WSOP Main Event.
The scoring system is simple but a bit more sophisticated compared to last year when the competition was first hosted. In 2017, the last player standing on any team won the competition for his or her team.
This year, each team member will be awarded points based on the WSOP Main Event Day they survived and can earn bonus points if they finish the day as the chip leader among any of the players participating in the 8-Team competition. Additionally, the team qualifier who is the last player standing in the WSOP Main Event, will earn a 100-point bonus for his or her team.
Day | Points | Team Max | Chip Lead Bonus |

1 | 10 | 30 | 30 |
