Geshkenbein Eliminates Cho With Big River Call

Level 6 : 400/800, 800 ante

The pot had about 100,000 in it and the complete board was already out there. Vladimir Geshkenbein and Jeonggyu Cho were heads-up and the board read {7-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades}.

Cho had moved all in for 123,000 and Geshkenbein was thinking. "I just don't know what to do here".

He ended up calling and that turned out to be the right decision. Cho opened up {Q-Spades}{7-Spades} and Geshkenbein showed {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}.

Romain Lewis raised to 2,000 from mid-position and Ryan Riess three-bet to 6,200 from the cutoff. Steven Warburton four-bet to 20,000 from the small and Michael Slenicka folded his big blind, Lewis also got out of their way. Riess looked at Warburton and decided to five-bet to 52,200.

"This is the first time I am going to look at my cards," Warburton said to Riess and after looking at them, he folded. "You looked at your hand like four times! I thought: no way he has a hand!"

"I folded ace-queen," Sklenicka commented.

"I had five-four suited," Warburton said.

Recent Eliminations

Level 6 : 400/800, 800 ante

Mathijs Jonkers, the third-place finisher in the 2017 WSOPE Main Event, just busted out of the tournament. Jonkers had only ten big blinds left when he got it in the middle with king-queen. Unfortunately for Jonkers, he had to take it up against ace-queen. He couldn't make anything happen and he is out of the tournament.

Antoine Vranken, Markus Pohl, and Thomas Muehloecker also all got eliminated from the Main Event.

Level 6 : 400/800, 800 ante
Sylvain Loosli in a previous event

Milad Oghabian raised from early position to 2,000 and Sylvain Loosli called from the cutoff. Small blind Elias Talvitie three-bet to 10,400 and Oghabian folded. Loosli did call and they went heads-up to the flop.

The flop was dealt {Q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Talvitie continued with a bet of 7,000. Loosli called to see the turn.

The turn was the {7-Spades} and Talvitie put in another bet. He dropped a 25,000 chip in the middle while he announced 21,000. Loosli called again and they saw the {9-Clubs} river complete the board.

Talvitie had just 41,000 behind and he moved all in for all of it. Loosli called within a second and immediately tabled the nuts, {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. Talvitie showed {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades} as he got up from the table.

Lindop Takes Two Out

Level 6 : 400/800, 800 ante

Niall Farrell raised to 2,000 from under the gun and Paul Michaelis called in the early position, so did Alex Lindop in mid-position. Lars Kamphues three-bet to 25,000 from the cutoff and action folded back to Farrell who also folded. Michaelis shoved for 39,700. Lindop tanked and then decided to also shove with a stack that would cover both of his opponents. Kamphues called.

Paul Michaelis: {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Lars Kamphues: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Alex Lindop: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {j-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades}{10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} to give Lindop a set of tens on the turn to eliminate both of his opponents.

Over on the other tables, the 2018 WSOP Main Event Champion, John Cynn was eliminated, as was Jun Wah Yap.

Loosli Flops Quads

Level 6 : 400/800, 800 ante

Milad Oghabian just lost a big hand against Sylvain Loosli and was kind enough to relate what had happened.

Oghabian raised from the hijack with {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts} to 2,000 and Loosli three-bet to 7,000 from the button which Oghabian called.

The flop came {a-}{2-}{a-} on which they both checked through to the {5-} on the turn. They both checked again to see the {9-} complete the board on the river. Oghabian now bet 6,500 and Loosli raised to 28,5000 which Oghabian called. Loosli tabled {a-}{a-} for the flopped quads and Oghabian also showed his cards.

Chobineh Takes Down Three-Way Pot

Level 6 : 400/800, 800 ante

Thomas Muehloecker opened with a raise from the hijack to 2,000. Bahram Chobineh called from the cutoff and Joao Vieira three-bet to 8,800. Both Muehloecker and Chobineh called.

The flop was {Q-Clubs}{K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and all three players checked it through. The turn was the {K-Clubs} Muehloecker checked again but Chobineh bet 5,200 this time. Preflop three-bettor Vieira gave up as he threw his cards in the muck, but Muehloecker called.

The {6-Hearts} river was dealt and both players checked. Muehloecker only showed a {J-Spades}, and Chobineh showed {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. That was enough to take down the pot as Muehloecker mucked his other card.

Morgan Takes From Teoh

Level 6 : 400/800, 800 ante

The flop read {2-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{7-Hearts} with 2,400 in the middle already.

Paul Teoh bet 4,000 from the small blind and James Morgan called in the big blind.

The turn was the {6-Diamonds}, Teoh now bet 7,500 and Morgan called again.

The river completed the board with the {j-Diamonds} and they both checked. Teoh tabled {k-Spades}{j-Hearts} for the rivered pair of jacks but was bested by the {a-Spades}{3-Diamonds} of Morgan who had flopped top pair.
