Kerkeni Ships Huge Pot

The action was caught on the river of a huge pot with roughly 40,000 chips. The player in the big blind checked on 4♥K♦6♦Q♣Q♦ before Mohamed Kerkeni made a pot-sized bet on the river.

The big blind tanked for some minutes before the clock was called on him. Somewhere during his countdown, he flicked in a call.

Kerkeni confidently tabled 6♠6♥ for a full house, and his opponent showed A♠K♣ for a no-good two pair, awarding the 300 big blind pot to Kerkeni.

Action picked up on the river in a hand between Daniel Weinman in late position and the player on the button.

With the board reading 7♦K♠2♦K♦K♥, Weinman checked and was facing a bet of 2,000 from the button.

Weinman then put in two 5,000 chips and announced a raise to 8,800. The button called and saw the bad news when Weinman tabled A♠K♣ for quads. The button showed Ax7x, and the pot was pushed to the 2023 WSOP Main Event Champion.

Pomponio Cracks Aces to Bust McDonald

With an already big pot brewing to the J♠9♣6♦10♦ turn, Thomas Pomponio bet 22,000 into around 27,000. Sean McDonald went into the tank and called for most of his stack behind. Pomponio then bet 25,000 on the 6♣ river, and McDonald called to get shown the J♣J♥ for jacks full, flashing his A♣A♥ before heading to the rail.

"Easy game," Humberto Brenes chimed in with a smile on his face.

Action picked up on the turn in a hand between the under-the-gun player and Ana Marquez in the hijack.

With over 17,000 in the pot and the board reading 3♠8♥6♦10♠, under the gun check-called a bet of 8,000 from Marquez.

The river brought the 7♠ and under the gun checked again. Marquez moved all in, putting under the gun at risk, who had 11,200 behind. Under the gun folded and the pot was pushed towards Marquez.

Calamusa Overbet Jams Into Quads

Pierre Calamusa raised to 1,000 in early position and was called by Paul Quiring on the button. Calamusa then bet 1,500 on the 8♦8♥8♠ flop and 6,000 on the 6♠ turn, being called by Quiring both times.

The 10♦ hit the river and saw Calamusa jam all in for around 60,000 chips. Quiring snap called with 10♠8♣ for flopped four of a kind and Calamusa threw his hand into the muck before leaving the tables

Relayed to PokerNews from Ludovic Geilich's table, Geilich opened to 700 in the hijack and both the cutoff and button called before Nuno Mafra put in a three-bet to 7,700 from the small blind. Geilich clicked it with a four-bet to 13,500, forcing the cutoff and button to fold and Mafra jammed all-in. Geilich had about 35,000 total and made the call.

Geilich was unable to find an ace as the board ran out 9x3x3x9x8x and he was eliminated.

Foxen check-called a bet of 3,000 from Newman on the 9♠Q♥K♦ flop.

Foxen and Newman checked the 6♣ turn for the K♥ to fall on the river. After Foxen checked for the final time, Newman bet 3,000. Foxen thought for a few moments before raising to 20,000. Newman snap-called and was shown 9♦9♣ by Foxen for a full house.

Kornuth Set up and Straightened Out

Three ways on a flop of 4♦6♣5♦, Chance Kornuth checked from the small blind and the player in the big blind checked to Matthew Ledger, who bet 1,100 on the button. Kornuth then check-raised to 3,900, which got a fold from the big blind and a call from Ledger.

Ledger called a 5,800 bet from Kornuth on the 9♥ turn and Kornuth fired 13,000 into the middle after the 8♠ completed the board.

Ledger shoved after a bit of thought, which was enough to put Kornuth all in for 55,600 total.

"This might take a bit, ya'll," Kornuth said, clearly struggling with his decision.

After several minutes, Kornuth said he didn't think he could fold and put in the call while tabling 6♥6♠ for a flopped set of sixes.

Ledger showed Kornuth the bad news as he turned over 7♦7♣ for a rivered straight to eliminate Kornuth early on Day 1d.

"Good luck guys," Kornuth wished his tablemates as he exited the tournament area.

Keating Crosses 100,000 After Massive Double

Two players saw the A♦K♦9♦ flop and Alan Keating checked to his opponent who fired 2,500 into the pot of about 3,000. Keating jammed for 48,700, putting his opponent deep into the tank. After several minutes, his opponent made the call.

Keating flopped a flush against the top two pair of his opponent and he was able to avoid the board pairing as the dealer ran out the 10♠ turn and the 3♣ river.
