Welcome back to PokerNews, the official media partner of the 2024 World Series of Poker and home of live updates from all bracelet events.
Today sees the start of Event #23: $1,500 Shootout No-Limit Hold'em here at Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas. This is a three-day event featuring Flight A at 12:00 p.m. local time and Flight B at 7:00 p.m. local time. Players who bust from Flight A can re-enter on Flight B if they wish. Flight A has a 40-minute clock, with Flight B's levels set at 20 minutes.
The Shootout is a fun event in which players need to win their table to advance to the next round, of which there are three.
Day 2 takes place on June 8, with the third and final day scheduled for June 9.
Faraz Jaka is the reigning champion, having outlasted 986 opponents in 2023. Jaka banked $237,637 and his first WSOP bracelet.

Three players saw a 2♥3♣9♥ flop, including Harry Lodge on the button.
The middle position player checked, a late position player bet 1000 and Lodge called, with the middle position opting to fold.
10♥ came on the turn and both players checked to a 8♥ river.
Middle position checked, Lodge took a while but make the decision to check behind.
Middle position showed A♠K♦ for ace high and Lodge took an early pot with 7♣7♠.

The player under the gun raised to 600 and Sean Eum called on the button, as did the big blind. The flop arrived with J♣5♠10♠ and all the players checked.
The turn was the 9♣ Eum took a stab and bet out 1,200 and the player under the gun looked him up with a call.
Both players cautiously checked the river 2♦ and the player under the gun tabled K♣8♣. Eum showed 8♠9♠ for the win with the pair of nines.

Four players were in the hand on a 5xAx6x flop, and all opted to check it down to a J♠ turn.
Players checked again around to the button who made a bet of 1,100 which got a call from Amir Lehavot in a late position and the cutoff.
The 3♣ river prompted checked from all players and Lehavot was first to show with JxQx, both other players mucked, leaving Lehavot to scoop the pot.
