Chad Eveslage Eliminated in 12th Place ($20,472)

Level 19
Chad Eveslage
Chad Eveslage

Ben Yu: 887QJQQ
Chad Eveslage: K53/A557
George Alexander: XxXx/210Xx - folded fifth street

After losing a significant pot to Maxx Coleman, Chad Eveslage got his last chips in on third street against Ben Yu and George Alexander.

Alexander stuck around for fifth street before a bet from Yu got him to fold.

Eveslage held trip fives on fifth against Yu's queens and eights, but Yu spiked a Queen on sixth to fill up, with Eveslage needing a five on seventh to survive, and as good as it can be to "run like Chad", he couldn't run well enough to spike the one-outer to survive.

Becker Survives with Straight on Seventh

Level 18

Johannes Becker: 8510/8697
Leonard august: JXxXx/J27J
Max Hoffman: XxXx/7 - Folded on third street
Brian Yoon: XxXx/3 - Folded Bring in

Brian Yoon brought in and Max Hoffman completed. Johannes Becker made it two bets to go and Leonard August raised again to three bets. Yoon and Hoffman got out of the way and Becker made the call.

Action was heads-up on fourth street. Leonard bet fourth, fifth and sixth street receiving a call from Becker each time. Becker's call on sixth left him with just two yellow 1,000 chips behind.

Leonard checked seventh, Becker bet his last 2,000 and Leonard made the call.

Leonard had trip jacks but Becker had made a ten-high straight to preserve his tournament life and receive slightly more than a full double up.

Alex Livingston

Alex Livingston: JXxXx/JJJA
Chad Eveslage: QXxXx/Q94K
Maxx Coleman: XxXx/52 - folded fourth street

Chad Eveslage completed and got called by Alex Livingston. Maxx Coleman defended his bing-in and the trio went to fourth street.

Pairing his jack, Livingston bet, which got a fold from Coleman, but Eveslage stuck around.

On fifth, Livingston made open trip jacks, and then checked, which drew raucous laughter from his tablemates, including Evesalge, who immediately checked back.

Livingston checked again on sixth, to more snickers, and then Eveslage pump-faked a bet, which drew even more laughter. He then officially checked.

Livingston bet dark on seventh and Eveslage showed another queen before sending it to the muck, while Livingston showed a fourth jack for quads and the winner.

One week into the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) and there's already a clear-cut favorite for Player of the Year.

No, it's isn't Shaun Deeb, Daniel Negreanu, or Phil Hellmuth, although all those three individuals are certainly capable of winning the prestigious award. The poker player we're talking about is Chad Eveslage, and his red hot start this summer is no fluke.

Julien Martini Eliminated in 13th Place ($20,472)

Level 18
Julien Martini
Julien Martini

Dan Shak: 65/AK84/9
Julien Martini: K6/6Q6J/5

Action was picked up on fifth street. Julien Martini bet fifth and sixth and received a call from Dan Shak on both streets. On seventh Martini bet again, and Shak made it two big bets, sending Martini deep into the tank.

"Do you have it Dan?" Martini asked his opponent. After taking between two and three minutes to contemplate his decision he made the call.

Martini had trip sixes but Shak had made a flush on seventh, leaving Martini with less than a starting stack going into the next hand.

David "Bakes" Baker: 10KJ/7498x
Julien Martini: 8JQx/4K37

The next hand Martini got the last of his chips in on third street against David "Bakes" Baker. Martini was ahead with a better king-high for most of the way but Baker made a straight on seventh to send Martini to the rail.
