Kaplan Busts to Miles

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 15,000 ante

Kerry Bell and Brian Yoon limped in and Tony Miles in the small blind raised it up to 550,000. Jaime Kaplan in the big blind moved all in for a total of 3,600,000 and that forced out Bell and Yoon. Miles asked for a count and eventually called, finding himself miles ahead in the showdown.

Jaime Kaplan: {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Tony Miles: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}

The {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flop gave Miles top two pair and Kaplan needed a queen for the straight to avoid the elimination. However, the {a-Diamonds} turn gave Miles a full house. Kaplan could only chop it with a king, and a blank {3-Diamonds} on the river sent Kaplan to the rail in 62nd place for a payday of $129,930.

Lussier Eliminated by Zullo

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 15,000 ante
Roger Lussier
Roger Lussier

Roger Lussier moved all in from under the gun for 810,000. It folded to Mark Zullo in the big blind who made the call.

Roger Lussier: {k-Spades}{8-Spades}
Mark Zullo: {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}

The flop came {j-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, giving Zullo a Broadway straight. Lussier's hopes were pinned to running spades or a queen for a chop. The first option went out the window on the {2-Clubs} turn, and despite his rail calling for the queen of hearts on the river, the river came the {6-Clubs} and Lussier was eliminated.

Jensen Calls Campo's Bluff

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 15,000 ante

Peter Campo raised to 225,000, and Frederik Jensen called in the big blind. The flop came down {3-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades}, and Jensen check-called a 225,000 bet from Campo. Both players checked on the {j-Diamonds} turn, and when the river came the {3-Hearts}, Jensen took the betting lead for 360,000.

Campo decided to raise to 1.3 million and Jensen went into the tank. It took several minutes for Jensen to make a decision, but when he did call, he saw he was correct. Jensen tabled {9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for two pair and Campo mucked.

"First Bluff of the Tournament"

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 15,000 ante

Clayton Fletcher had 100,000 in front of him in the big blind on {7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Ryan Phan made it 200,000 on the button and Fletcher came back with 550,000. Phan called and they both checked the {10-Diamonds}. Fletcher checked on the {8-Hearts} river and Phan thought awhile then put in 1,240,000. Fletcher folded after about 30 seconds.

Phan showed {a-Hearts}{3-Spades}.

"Was that a pair of threes?" Fletcher asked.

"Yeah," Phan said. "Can't beat your seven. First bluff of the tournament."

Another Saved by the River at the Outer Feature Table

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 15,000 ante
Artur Koren
Artur Koren

Artur Koren opened shoved for 1,650,000 from the hijack seat and Joe Cada was next to act in the cutoff. He put in a three-bet to 4,441,000 and everyone folded behind him, bringing the two to a showdown.

Joe Cada: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
Artur Koren: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

The flop came down {J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{3-Spades} which gave four extra outs to Koren as he could now hit a king for a straight. The turn was the {6-Hearts}, which brought no help.

The river was the {Q-Hearts}, though, and that gave Koren the win making him a pair of queens on the river to stay alive.

Tang Takes O'Donnell's Stack

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 15,000 ante
Shaun O'Donnell
Shaun O'Donnell

Picking up the action on the {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} turn, Shaun O'Donnell checked out of the big blind and Daniel Tang in the cutoff made it 580,000 to go. O'Donnell called with around 1.7 million behind and checked the {5-Hearts} on the river. Tang announced all in and O'Donnell gave it just 30 seconds of consideration before calling it off.

Tang rolled over his {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for the flush and O'Donnell mucked. As per all-in showdown rule, his {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} was exposed, however, and O'Donnell headed to the payout desk to collect a payday of $129,930.

Zobian Gets Value From Loosli

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 15,000 ante

In a big-blind-versus-under-the-gun battle, Aram Zobian and Sylvain Loosli both invested 260,000 on the {10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} turn and the {K-Diamonds} appeared on the river. Zobian bet 470,000 and Loosli called, then mucked as soon as Zobian showed {K-Clubs}{J-Spades} for a pair of kings.
