Minkin Unsure About the Laydown

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

After a raise to 35,000 from early position, Kelly Minkin was next to act and made it 100,000 to go. The action folded back around to the initial raiser who four-bet shoved all in for around 650,000.

Minkin went into the tank for a couple of minutes, trying to get a read off her opponent. "I don't think I can fold this," she added but got no response. Moments later, Minkin did find the fold but was still unsure about it. "Show me the bluff," she said with a laugh.

Bullets Hold for Gross in Monster Pot

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

We came upon three players all in preflop with Paulo Goncalves and his {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} covering everyone. One player held {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} and Alexander Gross had the {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}. The sweat was short as the board ran out {j-Clubs}{a-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}.

The player with tens had the shortest stack and everyone had put 259,000 in the middle to cover the main pot. Gross collected all of that plus an additional 770,000 from Goncalves.

Hutter Slips Back to the Field

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

There was a raise to 35,000 from middle position and Barry Hutter three-bet to 105,000 from the button. The blinds folded and his opponent made the call. The flop fell {q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and the action checked to Hutter who continued for 90,000. His opponent called and the {q-Spades} paired the board on the turn.

Both players checked and the {2-Hearts} completed the board. Hutter's opponent slid in a bet of 200,000 and Hutter paid him off. He showed {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} and Hutter pushed his cards forward face down.

Josephy Shoves, Pileggi Folds a Set of Aces

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Cliff Josephy
Cliff Josephy

Cliff Josephy and Larry Pileggi were heads-up on the river on the {a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} board. Pileggi led out with a bet of 125,000 into a main pot of about 250,000. Josephy moved all in, covering Pileggi who had 465,000 behind.

Pileggi thought long and hard and announced the fold, turning over his {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} for top set.

"Show him the five, Cliff" Paul Volpe said to which Josephy replied, "I don't know if I can, I hit a set of tens," and he slid his hand face down to the dealer.

Vener Runs Kings Into Aces

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The inevitable kings-versus-aces setup left Scott Vener's Main Event hopes in jeopardy, as he clashed with table neighbor Ming Xi, and Vener was covered by a small margin when the chips went in before the flop.

Scott Vener: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Ming Xi: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}

The board ran out {3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Vener was eliminated, the dealer wanted to rush away the board, but Vener asked to take a picture of the showdown.

"He was a nice guy, let him do it," Xi insisted, and after the obligatory setup picture, Vener headed to the payout desk.

David Miscikowski

Following a raise to 36,000 from a player in middle position, David Miscikowski called in the cutoff before Chino Rheem three-bet to 100,000 from the big blind.

The original raiser called, and Miscikowski opted to move all in for 712,000 total. Rheem followed suit by moving all in for 3,063,000, and the original raiser folded.

Rheem: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Miscikowski: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

The dealer spread a {J-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} board, and Miscikowski secured the double to over 1.5 million in chips as Rheem dropped to just under 2.4 million.

Obst Catches a Bluff

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
James Obst
James Obst

James Obst opened on the button with a raise to 32,000 and he was called by the player in the big blind.

The flop was {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and the big blind checked over to Obst who bet 20,000. The big blind called.

Both players checked on the {5-Spades} turn, but on the {A-Hearts} river, the player put out a bet of 55,000. Obst didn't waste any time calling and the player in the big blind showed his {7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for the board with a seven kicker. Obst showed his {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and his king kicker was good to scoop the pot.

Minkin Soars Up the Leaderboard with Monster Call-Down on Galinec

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Kelly Minkin
Kelly Minkin

"You guys just missed it!" stated a player to the PokerNews reporter.

Kelly Minkin was stacking up an assortment of chips after just eliminating Ivan Galinec.

Minkin detailed to PokerNews that she held {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts} in the small blind, and called Galinec's button open of 35,000. Minkin then check-called a bet of 80,000 on the {K-}{A-}{8-} one-heart flop as the turn landed a blank.

Minkin checked, Galinec bet 350,000, and Minkin called. The river landed the {Q-}, and after Minkin checked for the third time, Galinec moved all in for 701,000.

Minkin called, and when Galinec revealed his {J-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, he would be sent crashing to the rail as Minkin soared to nearly 3.4 million in chips.
