Altergott Takes and Takes From Arieh

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Max Altergott
Max Altergott

From under the gun Max Altergott opened with a raise to 7,500. He was called by the small blind as well as Josh Arieh in the big blind.

The flop was {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and action checked to Altergott who put out another bet for 11,000. Only Arieh called.

The turn was the {3-Clubs} and Arieh checked again. Altergot bet once more, making it 24,000 and Arieh called again.

The river was the {10-Spades} and Arieh checked. Altergott checked behind. Arieh showed his {A-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} for thrid pair but it was no good as Altergott was holding {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} for an overpair to the board and that would earn him the pot.

Hellmuth Nurses Short Stack; Doubles

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Over on the secondary feature table, Phil Hellmuth's stack dropped below ten big blinds and in one of the hands he defended the big blind against a raise by Jans Arends. Hellmuth checked it down on an ace-high board and showed {3-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Arends claimed the pot with the {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}.

After going through the blinds, Hellmuth eventually moved all in for 23,000 and Martin Poelzl called in the big blind with the {K-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. Hellmuth turned over the {A-Clubs}{J-Spades} and the board came {8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} to let Hellmuth double.

The table big stacks are Ray Attiyah and Steve Billirakis.

Phan on the Rise

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Ryan Phan is up to 670,000 in level 13, and we were told a story about how he got a portion of that stack in a strange hand from earlier on in the day.

Phan had called a three-bet preflop and his opponent's cards, which were ace-king, became exposed, and he had to play them face-up.

The flop came down {q-}{7-}{4-}, and Phan bet 20,000 which his opponent called with ace-high. Phan then moved all in on the ten turn card and his opponent, who started the hand with 180,000, called again.

Phan showed pocket twos and his opponent was eliminated after the river bricked and Phan picked up the pot.

DiVella Runs Into a Flush

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

The action folded to Nick DiVella on the button, and he raised and the big blind called.

The flop landed {J-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and the DiVella's opponent check-called a bet of 7,000 as the turn landed the {10-Diamonds}.

DiVella bet again; this time for 16,000, and his opponent check-called before both players checked the {7-Clubs} on the river.

DiVella's opponent revealed his {8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for a flush, and DiVella mucked.
