Another One for Defeo

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Defeo opened to 5,100 from middle position. The player from one seat over called.

A flop reading {4-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{q-Hearts} was dealt. Defeo bet 5,200. His opponent called. The turn brought the {5-Clubs} and was checked through to the {q-Clubs} river. Again, both players checked. Defeo showed {j-Spades}{9-Spades} to win the pot. His opponent sent his hand to the muck.

Nanji Felts a Foe

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

A player in early position raised to 5,500, a player in middle position three-bet to 11,000, Fatima Nanji called from the small blind, and the original raiser called.

The flop came {9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Nanji checked. The original raiser checked, the middle-position player bet 15,000, Nanji called, and the original raiser folded.

The {9-Hearts} fell on the turn and Nanji checked. Her opponent shoved for what looked like 24,000 and Nanji called to put him at risk.

Fatima Nanji: {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}
Opponent: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Nanji had the best of it with the better pocket pair and her opponent needed to spike a ten on the river to survive. The {Q-Clubs} was the final card and Nanji took the pot.

Some For Konnikova

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Maria Konnikova
Maria Konnikova

Maria Konnikova was facing off against one player from the big blind on a flop of {10-Spades}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs} with about 13,000 in the pot already. Konnikova checked her option to her opponent who put out a small bet of 4,500. Konnikova called.

Both players checked on the {10-Clubs} turn and the {10-Diamonds} river and Konnikova was able to take down the pot by showing her {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}.

With that pot, Konnikova moved over 200,000 chips, a good start from where she began the day.

Loeser Gets Value

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

The board was down {q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{q-Spades}, and Manig Loeser was heads-up in middle position with the player on his direct left. There was around 33,000 in the middle at this point, and Loeser bet 30,000 on the river. His opponent stared at him for several seconds and counted the bet out before glaring once more. The call was made, and Loeser tabled {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a flush and swooped in the pot after his opponent had mucked.

Springael Over Gerrits; Verhaaf Loses a Bunch

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

The flop read {3-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and both Joris Springael and Stefan Ivanov had checked their blinds. Martijn Gerrits bet 8,500 and was only called by Springael.

The turn brought them the {3-Hearts} on which they both checked to the {8-Spades} on the river. Springael bet 30,000, Gerrits glanced at the board and then folded.

Michael Verhaaf lost a chunk of his stack in the last hand of the break when the board read {9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and he had checked from under the gun. His opponent in mid-position had shoved for 41,000 in total. After going through all his options, Verhaaf called with {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for the rivered pair of sevens. Verhaaf's opponent tabled {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} for the overpair to double up.

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

The three ESPN feature tables in the second level of the day have started and the main stage belongs to Anatoly Filatov, John Smith, Jason Koon and Lacey Jones. Matthew Greenwald could only enjoy the experience for very few hands as he lost a flip for the last 15,800 with {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} against the {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades} of Aaron Kweskin, the board came {J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}.

The secondary feature has Ray Romano, Timothy Lau and Eric Froehlich, among others, while Phil Hellmuth is on the outer table along with Kevin Killeen and Peter Eichhardt.

Chip leader of the three feature tables at the start of level 12 is Lau, narrowly ahead of Amir Parvizian.
