Mateos is Missing

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

Adrian Mateos tweeted that he lost with ace-king suited against pocket aces and then missed a combo draw to join the rail in the last level of the night. On his former table, Giuliano Bendinelli was kind enough to provide the details for the last hand of the Spaniard.

According to Bendinelli, it was him that raised in the cutoff and Mateos called, as did Robert Kozik in the big blind. On a {A-}{Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop, action checked to Bendinelli and his bet was called by both opponents. On the {6-Hearts} turn, Kozik and Bendinelli checked and Mateos moved all in for 31,000 into a pot of 29,000.

Kozik was the only caller with {A-}{10-} for top pair and Mateos missed out on a straight and flush draw with {K-Hearts}{J-} after a blank on the river.

Volpe on the Rise

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Paul Volpe
Paul Volpe

A player opened in middle position with a raise to 3,500 and Paul Volpe called on the button.

The flop was {Q-Spades}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts} and the middle position player led with a bet of 5,000. Volpe just called.

On the {9-Hearts} turn, the player led out again, betting 5,000 again. Volpe thought about it briefly then called again.

The river was the {8-Hearts} and the player bet 5,000 one more time. Volpe thought for a second then raised, making it 17,400 to go. The player thought himself for a bit then called. Volpe showed down his {J-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and it was good for him to take down the pot as his opponent just had {Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}.

With that pot, Volpe moved to just under 270,000 chips.

Timoshenko Loses a Chunk

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Yevgeniy Timoshenko
Yevgeniy Timoshenko

The action folded to Yevgeniy Timoshenko who raised it up on the button and was called by both the small and big blind. The flop came {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and both of the blinds checked to Timoshenko who bet 4,200. The small blind called while the big blind got out of the way.

The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and the small blind checked again. Timoshenko continued for another 14,000 and his opponent called. The river brought the {a-Diamonds} and the small blind led out this time for 15,000. Timoshenko quickly threw his cards away as he slipped below 200,000.

Cimbolas Shoves the River

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

In a five-way pot on the {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop, Matas Cimbolas fired 1,500 in a middle position and his bet was raised to 4,000 by the player on the button. The rest of the players got out of the way and Cimbolas called.

The {7-Hearts} hit the felt on the turn and both players checked to see the {9-Hearts} river. Cimbolas moved all in for roughly 15,000, just about the size of the pot. His opponent let his cards go.

Set Over Set Sparks a Loud Cheer

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

A loud eruption in the Brasilia Bronze section from Robert Polanyi caught our attention. As we arrived at the table, the dealer was counting Polanyi's stack after the hand was complete. Three hands were still face up with the board reading {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}.

One player already left his seat who was holding {k-Spades}{10-Clubs}, another player was left with around 2,500 chips holding {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}, and Polanyi tabled the best with {6-Spades}{6-Hearts} and he was the one receiving all of the chips. All of the chips got in the middle on the flop according to the table, and Polanyi's set of sixes proved to be victorious. He was all in for 138,700 and is now sitting on a stack over 330,000.

Nanos and Maini Chip Up

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

After a raise to 4,000 and five callers, a flop of {J-Spades}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts} emerged and was checked around to the player on the button, who made it 12,000 to go. Only Vishal Maini in the hijack called and the {3-Spades} on the turn went check, check. Maini bet the {10-Diamonds} river for 26,000 and his opponent called.

The Brit showed {8-Spades}{7-Spades} for a flush and his opponent mucked {Q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} face up.

One table over, a big pot of more than 85,000 was already brewing with the completed board showing {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{K-Hearts}. Nanos bet 57,500 and El Khazen Fadi gave it some thought before folding. "I can beat pocket nines," Fadi said after letting go, to which Nanos replied with "You can't call."
