Perez Sends His Opponent for a Walk

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The action folded around to the button who raised it up to 2,700 and Hugo Perez three-bet to 9,500 from the small blind. The button called and the flop came {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{10-Clubs}. Perez led out for 7,500 and his opponent still called.

The turn was the {j-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {2-Hearts} on the river. Perez tossed in another 8,500 and his opponent wasn't sure what to do.

"I can't beat anything," he said but still made the call. Perez turned over {9-Spades}{8-Spades} for a straight and his opponent flew his cards to the muck. He needed to cool off after making the call as he quickly left the table and took a stroll around the Pavilion room.

Ivey Drops a Small One

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Phil Ivey opened with a raised to 2,600 and he was called by the big blind and the big blind only.

The flop was {5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and both players checked to see the {J-Clubs} on the turn. There, the player in the big blind bet 6,100 and Ivey called.

On the {10-Spades} river, the big blind led out again, betting 11,100. Ivey tanked for a bit but eventually decided to call. The big blind turned up his {K-Clubs}{q-Clubs}.

"Flush?" Ivey asked leaning over the table. "You have a flush right?"

The player in the big blind nodded and Ivey sent over the chips.

Katchalov Snap-Calls with Aces

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Picking up the action on the {6-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{9-Spades} river, Eugene Katchalov checked in the cutoff and button Alexander Lakhov fired 8,000. Katchalov didn't waste a second and tossed in calling chips. Lakhov showed {J-Spades}{10-Hearts} for a busted gutter and Katchalov was miles ahead with {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}.

Song Folds to Habib

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Stephen Song and Ubaid Habib had previously tangled in several bigger pots and they were once again involved. This time it was a three-way pot to the {K-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Spades}{J-Spades} river and a bet of 11,000 and a call by Song were already visible. Habib then opted to raise it up to 50,000 and the third player in the hand folded. Song gave it some consideration and came to the same conclusion.

There's Always Next Year for Brenes

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

After a series of preflop raises, three players tabled their cards and Humberto Brenes was at risk. Brenes was on the short stack with around 36,000, Leo Kaplin was all in for around 65,000, and Christopher Chaudey had them both covered.

Humberto Brenes: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Leo Kaplin: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Christopher Chaudey: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

They were three monster hands and Brenes was looking for a triple-up. However, the flop came {q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Kaplin took the lead with a set of queens. The {7-Hearts} on the turn and the {10-Spades} on the river were of no help to either player. Brenes was eliminated and Kaplin took down a healthy pot.

The cameras were rolling and Brenes made sure to wave goodbye to everyone watching. "See you again next year," he said as he exited the Brasilia room.

Kassouf Spikes an Ace to Double

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
William Kassouf
William Kassouf

After a raise and a three-bet to 9,000 by William Kassouf on the cutoff, initial raiser Erhart Edquist moved all in from the hijack and the camera crews rushed by to see if a showdown would take place. Eventually, Kassouf called it off for his last 42,100 and the cards were turned over.

William Kassouf: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}
Erhart Edquist: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

"Any aces about?" Kassouf asked and received one right on the {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Clubs} flop. The {4-Hearts} turn and {2-Spades} river were blanks and the talkative Brit doubled.

"The haters won't like it, they hope I bust. But now I get more TV time," Kassouf added while stacking the chips.
