Another One for Waxman

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Matt Waxman opened to 3,000 under the gun. The player on the button and the big blind called.

A flop reading {9-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{q-Spades} was dealt. The big blind and Waxman checked. The player on the button threw in a bet of 4,300. The big blind folded. Waxman called.

The turn brought the {j-Clubs} and was checked through to the {5-Spades} river. Again, both players checked. Waxman tabled {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} to rake in the pot and his opponent sent his hand to the muck.

Arends Loses a Chunk

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Just before the break, Jans Arends was sitting in the small blind and doubled his opponent in the cutoff up with {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} against the {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} of his opponent.

The board ran out {10-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for his opponent to hit two pair on the flop and Arends was left with less than the starting stack of the tournament.

On one of the other tables, fellow countryman, Jasper Meijer van Putten was eliminated before the break.

Feature Tables: Altman and Mizrachi Crushing; Galfond Takes a Hit

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

While Brian Altman crushes the secondary table, Michael Mizrachi does so on the main feature table. Over on the third table are Kevin Boudreau, Scotty Nguyen and Ryan Leng.

On the secondary table, Farah Galfond just called a raise by Jeffrey Tanouye and looked up the shove of the short stack on a flop of {9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Galfond had {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Tanouye turned over the {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. Galfond picked up a gutshot on the {6-Spades} turn, but the {5-Diamonds} river was a blank to let Tanouye double for 25,300.

Big Stacks From Day 1b

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

On a {10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop two players checked and a third bet 4,400. Samuel Bernabeu called and the other two players folded. The turn was a king. It checked to Bernabeu who bet and the other player folded.

Bernabeu turned over {2-Spades}{2-Clubs} for flopped quads and took down the pot.

Martinez Doubles with Aces

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Jesus Martinez peeled aces on the button and squeezed over a raise from early position and a flat-call. Both players called him and we arrived for the action on the {Q-Spades}{2-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} flop where Martinez fired 7,000 in position. The opener check-raised to 21,000, getting rid of the third player. Martinez matched the price and they saw the {2-Clubs} hit the felt.

Martinez faced a bet of 40,000 and pushed all his chips towards the middle, making it just 1,400 more. His rival called with {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} but Martinez' {A-Hearts}{A-Spades} prevailed after the {8-Diamonds} river.
