Run Like Rast

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

According to the ESPN crew, Brian Rast was just all in and at risk preflop with ace-king against the pocket aces of Ken Yamamoto and spiked a king on the flop and river to double up in fortunate fashion. Reduced to 14,000 earlier, Rast has recovered and doubled to a healthy stack of 84,000.

That's still not the biggest stack at the table, though, as Aymon Hata and Chris Fraser have it beat, and Florian Duta is not far behind.

Diamonds are Strode's Best Friend

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

There was already 11,000 in the main pot on the {9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop and Scott Strode led out with a bet of 7,500. The under-the-gun player raised to 23,000 and the player on the button moved all in, covering both players.

With the action back on Strode, he called for 29,900, and after thinking it over for about 20 seconds, the under-the-gun player folded.

Scott Strode: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Button: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Strode would need to improve against the pocket kings of his opponent and the {9-Spades} turn was no help. He stood up from his chair and yelled for a diamond and right on cue the dealer put out the {8-Diamonds} river card.

Strode improved to a flush to take the pot and nearly tripled his stack.

Small Pot for Harman

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante
Jen Harman
Jen Harman

Jen Harman hasn't been able to get anything going yet in this year's Main Event. Just now she did manage to win a small pot, but she still has less than half of the initial 50,000 everyone started with.

Harman raised to 1,100 from middle position and the player in the cutoff called, as well as the player in the big blind. The flop came down {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and it checked to Harman. She put out a continuation bet of 1,100 and both of her opponents folded.

Phan Chipping Up

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

Joe McKeehen opened to 1,000 from early position. Quyen Phan in the small blind and Brian Frasca in the big blind both called.

The players saw a flop of {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{j-Spades} that was checked around to the {6-Hearts} turn. Phan bet 2,100, Frasca called, and McKeehen folded.

The {k-Clubs} river filled up the board. Phan continued for 3,500 and Frasca called. Phan tabled {k-Spades}{10-Spades} and her opponent mucked.

McCarrel Joins the Big Stacks

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

On the tail end of a big pot between Jason Lilly and Casey McCarrel, the former checked the river of a board {4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and McCarrel bet 30,000 into a pot of around 42,000. Lilly gave it a lot of consideration and called, but quickly mucked when he was shown the {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} of McCarrel.

A few minutes later, Lilly was eliminated by Robert Tepper.

Ryan Yu, who was very short-stacked not long ago, has since climbed back to almost starting stack.

Carnero Catches Perez During a Bluff

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

The board showed {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Martin Carnero checked from the hijack to Cesar Perez on the button who bet 9,500 into a pot of about 20,000.

Carnero thought for a moment and then threw in chips to call. Perez tabled {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for king high and a missed draw. Carnero tabled {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for a pair of eights and enough to pull in the pot from Perez.

Smith Builds a Stack

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

On the heads-up turn of {10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, the player in the big blind checked to Bert Smith on the button, who bet 3,000.

"I am giving you a hint," Smith said, and his opponent called. On the {7-Hearts} river, the big blind bet 5,000 and Smith snap-called to get shown {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}. Smith had that beat with the {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for the better kicker and table neighbor Eric Hicks chimed in, "I told you! Every time he has the better hand."

Smith sits at more than three times the starting stack and is next to Aditya Prasetyo.
