Defending Champion Blumstein Eliminated on Feature Table

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante
Scott Blumstein
Scott Blumstein

The ESPN feature tables kicked off at the start of Level 3 and among those to take a seat in the main spotlight were Jean Montury, Lacey Jones, defending champion Scott Blumstein, and Brian Yoon. The latter two tangled in a big pot that left the defending champion devastated, as he was sent to the rail early on.

Blumstein raised to 800 and Yoon three-bet to 3,700 in late position, which Blumstein called. On the {6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop, Blumstein check-called a bet of 3,000 and did so again on the {3-Spades} turn for 10,000. The {2-Spades} appeared on the river and Blumstein checked with 27,350 behind. Yoon moved all in and Blumstein called it off with the {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} only for Yoon to turn over {A-Spades}{J-Spades} for the back door nut flush.

Laieta Scoops a Big One

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

A player in early position raised to 600 and it folded to Chris Laieta in the big blind who reraised to 2,600. The original raiser called and they went heads-up to the {a-Spades}{j-Spades}{j-Hearts} flop.

Laieta checked and his opponent threw out a bet of 4,500. Laieta called and the dealer burned and turned the {7-Diamonds}. Laieta check-called a bet of 6,500 and the {k-Diamonds} hit the river.

Laieta checked for a third time and his opponet bet 17,000. Laieta called and the player shook his head, turning over {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}. Laieta tabled {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for aces and jacks and dragged in the pot.

Chanthabouasy Calls Hurlbut's River Bet

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

The board read {4-Spades}{k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Rodney Hurlbut bet 6,000 into a pot around 4,500. Steve Chanthabouasy thought for several moments before making the call and the two then revealed their hands.

Hurlbut turned over {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for flopped trip kings and Chanthabouasy turned over {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} for trip kings with a higher kicker. Chanthabouasy let out a sigh of relief as he scooped in the pot.

Kruk Chops it Up

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

When we arrived at the table, Christopher Kruk was already all in. There was about 50,000 in the pot and Kruk was all in for 35,000. The board read {2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades}{Q-Spades}{2-Hearts}. Kruk's opponent was deep in the tank and Owen Crowe called the clock on him.

When the floor arrived, they told the player he had 25 seconds plus a five-second countdown to make his decision. After a couple seconds, he asked who called clock and then made the call.

Kruk turned over {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs} and the player that called had a matching {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}. They chopped up the pot and proceeded to the next hand.

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

Antonio Esfandiari has bounced back from a mediocre start here on Day 1a and climbed back to starting stack before losing a pot against David Maudlin on the main feature stage.

Esfandiari had raised to 775 and was called by Maudlin in the small blind and Robert Stuve in the big blind. The trio checked through the {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop. On the {J-Spades} turn, Maudlin bet 1,375 and Stuve folded, but Esfandiari called. Maudlin bet again on the {5-Clubs} river for 3,200 and received a call by Esfandiari. Maudlin rolled over {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} for trips jacks to win the pot.

Margets All In on the Flop

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante
Leo Margets
Leo Margets

The flop showed {3-Spades}{q-Hearts}{4-Spades}, Leo Margets checked from the small blind, and Fadi Barakeh checked as well from the big blind. An opponent in late position bet 2,000 and Margets raised to 6,500.

Fadi Barakeh called, the late-position opponent three-bet to 15,000, and Margets moved all in for 39,875. Fadi Barakeh thought for several moments, making the call for his remaining 24,150, and the late-position opponent folded {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} face up.

Margets turned over {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs} for a flopped set and Barakeh showed {a-Spades}{j-Spades} for a nut flush draw. The turn made Margets shake her head as it came a spade, but it was the {q-Spades} that hit the table and she quickly smiled after realizing it gave her a dominating full house.

Margets now had Barakeh drawing dead to the {5-Diamonds} on the river and she scooped in a nice pot with her full house, eliminating Barakeh from the tournament.

Nicholas Pupillo
Nicholas Pupillo

A player in late position limped in and the player on the button raised to 2,200. Nick Pupillo called from the small blind and the late-position player called.

They went three-handed to the {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop and the action checked around. The turn was the {5-Spades} and again all three players knuckled the felt. The river was the {9-Diamonds} and Pupillo led out with a bet of 10,000.

The late-position player called and the button folded. Pupillo turned over {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and his opponent flashed only the {a-Hearts} before throwing his hand into the muck.
