Craig Bergeron Eliminated in 11th Place ($27,344)

Craig Bergeron 11th place
Craig Bergeron 11th place

We did not catch the exact preflop action, however, a short-stacked Craig Bergeron found himself all in preflop against the bigger stack of Joseph Urgo.

Urgo: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}
Bergeron: {A-}{7-}

The {9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} board left Bergeron with eights-full, which was more than good enough to eliminate Bergeron from the tournament.

Damien Lhommueau Eliminated in 12th Place ($27,344)

Damien Lhommeau 12th place
Damien Lhommeau 12th place

Action folded over to Damien Lhommeau on the button, who opened for 25,000. Luis Rodriguez Cruz called from the big blind to see a flop, which came {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}.

Cruz checked to Lhommeau, who continuation-bet for 30,000, Cruz raised and Lhommeau quickly went all-in for his last 200,000. Cruz called and hands were revealed.

Cruz: {Q-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Lhommeau: {J-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

Lhommeau was in bad shape with only a gutshot and would need a ten or runner-runner to survive. The {3-Hearts} turn and {7-Spades} river were no help to Lhommeau and he was sent to the rail in 12th place.

Blumenthal Snaps Off Metalidi

Artem Metalidi opened for 25,000 from under-the-gun and was three-bet by Eddie Blumenthal to 58,000 from the cutoff. The blinds got out of the way and Metalidi made the call to see a flop, which came {J-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{4-Spades}.

Metalidi checked, prompting a 68,000 c-bet from Blumenthal, which Metalidi called.

The turn brought a {8-Spades}, leaving three spades on board and both players checked.

When a {Q-Hearts} landed on the river, however, Blumenthal took the initiative and led out for a hefty 183,000. Blumenthal took a deep breath and announced, "Call."

Metalidi flipped over {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades} - a stone bluff. Blumenthal revealed {A-Clubs}{A-Spades} for two-pair and scooped the pot.

Running Scared

Foster Hays started off the action with a raise to 27,000. Eddie Blumenthal on the button called, as did Scott Montgomery in the big blind. With a {J-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} board exposed Montgomery lead off with a check, and Hays continued for 54,000. A silent Blumenthal put in the call, and an even quieter Montgomery did the same.

The {9-Spades} on the turn allowed for all three players to knuckle the felt, and a {7-Spades} on the river saw a repeat of action with three checks. Hays announced "jacks and nines" and flipped over {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. The other two's cards then melted into the muck. Afterwards Hays said "that was a weird hand".

The Calm After the Storm

Level 22 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

After an explosive first level, which saw six eliminations within a half hour, play has been markedly more tame. Slow, even. Many pots are going the route of "raise-it-and-take it," however, with blinds having just gone up, we expect the action to pick up again very soon.

Taylor Paur 13th place
Taylor Paur 13th place

Action began with Foster Hays, who opened to 22,000. Directly behind him, Taylor Paur three-bet to 48,000. Hays mulled it over and three-bet to 125,000. Not backing down, Paur announced he was all in and Hays quickly announced, "Call."

Hays: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Paur: {A-Spades}{9-Spades}

Paur was dominated going into the flop and received no help as the board ran out {4-Hearts}{J-Spades}{10-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Spades}, eliminating him in 13th place.

Toan Trinh Eliminated in 14th Place ($21,189)

Toan Trinh
Toan Trinh

Artem Metalidi and Toan Trinh started out a recent hand by getting into a raising match that ended with the shorter stacked Trinh getting all in and called.

Trinh: {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Metalidi: {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}

Trinh was dominated by and needed to improve. A {9-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades}{8-Hearts} board ran out and Trinh was eliminated when his kicker wasn't up to snuff.
