Brick Out

Todd Brick got himself all in for less than 400,000 before the flop with {6-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}, and he seemed content to flip for his tournament life when Peter Jetten called him down with {A-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}. Momentarily content, at least.

The flop was fine and dandy for the at-risk player ({5-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}), but the turn {A-Diamonds} was awfully unkind. Once the river {8-Spades} filled out the board, Brick wished his table luck as the floor staff escorted him to the cage, freshly eliminated from the Main Event.

Jetten - 2.37 million

Peters Out

Jean-Robert Bellande raised to 60,000. David Peters reraised all in and Bellande made the call. Bellande held the {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades} and Peters held the {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {K-Hearts}{10-Spades}{5-Spades}{A-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and Peters was eliminated.

Bellande moved to 2.15 million and commented, "It's nice when the best hand holds up."

Who's Bad

Robert Mizrachi
Robert Mizrachi

The older half of the still-alive Mizrachi brothers, Robert Mizrachi, just doubled up. Mizrachi held the {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} and was up against the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} for Manuel Davidian.

The board ran out {K-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, allowing Mizrachi to dodge Davidian's outs and double up to approximately 750,000.

Harder Turns Double

Christian Harder opened to 47,000 from under the gun and was called by Brandon Steven, Gary Kostiuk and Matt Affleck.

Affleck checked the {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop from the big blind as Harder fired out 85,000. Steven passed, but Kostiuk made the call as Affleck folded too.

The turn landed the {5-Clubs} and Harder led out for 200,000 before Kostiuk moved all in. Harder made the call for his 585,000-chip stack to take us to a showdown.

Harder: {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Kostiuk: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}

The river landed the {2-Hearts} to see Kostiuk slip to 211,000 as Harder doubles through to 1,680,000 in chips.

Dunst Back in Seven Figures

Tony Dunst doubles up.
Tony Dunst doubles up.

Johnny Lodden opened the pot to 51,000 from the hijack seat and Ryan Eriquezzo reraised to 139,000 in the next seat over. Not to be outdone, Tony Dunst shipped it in there for all 760,000 of his remaining chips from the button, and that folded Lodden quickly. Eriquezzo was not so quickly pacified, however, and he sat deep in the tank for several long minutes as the cameras rolled.

"Will you show me this one, Tony?" he asked. Dunst sat as still as a statue, and his opponent finally mumbled, "No answer, huh?"

Finally, after another few minutes, he returned his cards to the dealer. "You want to see?" Dunst asked. Eriquezzo affirmed, and Dunst showed up his {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}.

"Even I had that beat," Lodden noticed. You have to call to win, though, and Dunst's aggression has moved him up the board; he finds himself right at the one-million-chip mark now.

George Pushing with King High

Joseph Cheong
Joseph Cheong

Christopher George and Joseph Cheong saw a flop of {9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. George bet out 65,000 before Cheong raised to 145,000. George thought and then reraised to 300,000. Cheong made the call.

The turn card brought the {9-Clubs} and now two pair laid on board. George cocked back and fired out 395,000, leaving himself with roughly 585,000 behind. Cheong thought and then let it go, giving George the pot. George showed the {K-Spades}{J-Hearts}.

"Nice bet," said Cheong, who dropped back to 3.85 million.

George increased to 1.95 million.

Ferguson Fokked

Michael Ferguson opened with a raise to 54,000 from under the gun, and it folded around to Fokke Beukers on the button who called. The blinds released their hands, and the flop came {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

That flop was enough to get the ball rolling here. Ferguson checked, Beukers bet 75,000, Ferguson check-raised to 210,000, Beukers reraised all in, and Ferguson called with his remaining chips.

Ferguson showed {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}, but probably thought of a word that resembled his opponent's first name when he saw Beukers' {9-Spades}{7-Spades}. The turn was the {2-Spades} and river the {4-Diamonds}, and Ferguson was eliminated.

Beukers now has 3.2 million.

Pearson Runs Into Babel's Rockets

Matthew Pearson
Matthew Pearson

Matthew Pearson opened with a raise to 45,000 on the button before Joseph Cheong made it 138,000 from the small blind. Nicolas Babel was sitting in the big blind and he decided to shove alll in over the top for 735,000. Pearson called off his last 560,000 as Cheong got out of the way.

Pearson: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Babel: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}

Pearson had run "Big Slick" into the rockets of Babel and received no miracles ont he {Q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. The last Australian hope departs as Babel is now up to 1.42 million chips.

Phil Galfond from yesterday's feature table
Phil Galfond from yesterday's feature table

Phil Galfond raised to 48,000 from under the gun. Action then folded around to Josue Sauvageau and he three-bet to 128,000. The button and blinds folded back over to Galfond and he went into the tank. His time in the tank was over 12 minutes, and that's no exaggeration. Galfond talked about how he wished that he knew more about live tells and what they meant. Eventually, Ronnie Bardah called the clock on calling the clock. He said that he would call the clock in one minute, leaving Galfond about two minutes to continue to tank. Galfond had no issue with this.

Finally, Galfond looked at the dealer and said, "All right, I'm all in." Sauvageau, who had buried his head down in his arms on the rail while Galfond tanked, rose up and looked puzzled. "I mean, this could be the sickest tank of all time if you have it. Why waste 10 minutes." He then made the call.

"Do you have tens?" Sauvageau asked Galfond.

"I've got worse than tens," responded Galfond.

Galfond opened up the {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Sauvageau the {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {K-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} to keep Sauvageau's jacks in front and send Galfond to the rail. Sauvageau moved his way to 2.7 million in chips.

Senti Gets Benefit of Re-Shuffled Deck

Tristan Wade opened to 48,000 pre-flop and was called in position by Jason Senti. The dealer, however, did not notice that Senti called and dropped the stub and began mixing it into the muck after all other players folded. A floor was brought to the table. He ruled that the now mixed-together stub and muck would be re-shuffled and the hand would play out from there.

Wade led out for 66,000 on a nine-high flop of {9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Senti calle that bet and called another 113,000 on the {7-Diamonds} turn. Both players checked the {k-Spades} river, with Senti's {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts} getting the best of Wade's {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}.
