Phil Galfond Eliminated

Phil Galfond - Eliminated
Phil Galfond - Eliminated
After being left with just 4,000 chips quite some time ago, Phil Galfond finally made his exit. The 2008 bracelet winner found himself all in holding {8-Hearts} {8-Clubs} against the {10-Spades} {10-Clubs} of his opponent.

Galfond got no help from the {9-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {2-Spades} board and was sent packing.

Kevin Saul Slips

After a {9-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} flop Kevin Saul bet 3,500 after his opponent checked. She then raised to 11,500 and Saul moved all in. She made the call and her {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} were well ahead of Saul's {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}. The {8-Hearts} fell on the turn and when the {Q-Clubs} hit on the river Saul jokingly said, "Queen!", even though pairing his queen didn't give him the winning hand.

"That's a bad beat" his opponent said, appreciating the joke, and Saul is now down to 11,000.

Thierry van den Berg's Opponent Spikes

T6 pro Thierry van den Berg raises to 600 from middle position and the blinds call.

The flop is {K-?}{9-?}{2-?} and everyone checks.

The turn is {4-?} and the small blind bets 2,800. The big blind folds and Thierry calls.

The river is {J-?} and the small blind bets 3,800. Thierry calls and shows {A-?}{K-?}, but his opponent has {K-?}{J-?}. Thierry still has 32,000 after the hand, though.

Married to Kings

Barry Shulman raised to 700 from late position before calling a reraise to 2,050 from the big blind player.

The flop came {5-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts} before Shulman called a 3,000 bet.

The turn {10-Spades} prompted an all-in bet of 11,000 that Shulman called holding {A-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} for trip aces. His opponent flipped over {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} for two pair.

The river came {7-Clubs} eliminating Shulman's opponent while he enjoys his new stack of 45,000.

Lechich Makes Strong Laydown

Tino Lechich
Tino Lechich
On a board of {A-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{Q-Spades}{2-Diamonds} Lechich checked it over to his opponent who quickly moved all in. Lechich thought for a few moments before folding his hand, flashing the {A-Clubs}. It proved to be a very solid laydown, as his opponent revealed {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for a set of fours!

Lechich is still in good shape with 22,400 chips.

Svetlana Hits the River

Svetlana Gromenkova  - Event #51
Svetlana Gromenkova - Event #51
We caught up to this hand on the flop. With the board reading {A-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {5-Hearts}, a middle position player check-raised all in after Svetlana Gromenkova bet 6,000. Gromenkova made the call and the players showed:

Gromenkova: {J-Hearts} {J-Spades}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}

The turn came the {2-Diamonds} which helped neither player. Gromenkova was probably looking for a heart for the win, but the {J-Diamonds} that hit the river was just as good. She sent another player to the rail and chipped up to about 52,000 in the process.

Red Section Collapsing Quickly

We're down to just seven tables in the Red section of the Amazon Room. As players are eliminated, tables in Red are the first to be broken so that Harrah's can get more cash games up and running. All of the cash games are full at the moment, with long lists on each board.
