Tamayo Takes Lead from Tolbert

Level 32 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Jonathan Tamayo
Jonathan Tamayo

Mark Rose opened to 160,000 on the button, Jonathan Tamayo defended in the big blind, and the dealer fanned {a-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts}. Tamayo checked, Rose continued for 150,000, and Tamayo check-raised to 415,000. Rose folded.

The very next hand, Clint Tolbert raised to 205,000 out of the small blind, Tamayo three-bet to 530,000 from the big blind, and Tolbert four-bet to 1.105 million. Tamayo moved all in for 3.285 million, and Tolbert quickly called.

Tolbert: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Tamayo: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

The flop fell {q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, giving Tamayo a stranglehold on the hand. It was all over when the {8-Spades} turned, and a meaningless {5-Hearts} completed the board.

Tamayo doubled to 6.6 million chips, taking the chip lead, while Tolbert is now on the short stack with 2.485 millon.

"...That Sucks"

Level 32 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Clint Tolbert held the button. He made it 160,000 to go and received a call from Mark Rose from the big blind.

The dealer fanned a flop of {J-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}. Rose checked and Tolbert continued for 200,000. Rose stuck around and fourth street brought the {A-Hearts}. Another check from Rose prompted 375,000 to come out of Tolbert's stack and into the middle. Rose called again.

The {Q-Diamonds} rivered. Rose checked and Tolbert sighed and checked behind.

"Nine-high," said Rose.

No response from Tolbert.

Rose showed {9-Spades}{8-Spades}. Tolbert simply shook head head and flashed {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for eight-high and the worst hand. The pot was pushed to Rose.

Tolbert turned around to his rail.

"...That sucks."

Rose is now sitting on about 4.4 million while Tolbert has fallen to 5.65 million.

King-High is Good

Level 32 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Clint Tolbert raised to 205,000 out of the small blind, Jonathan Tamayo defended, and the dealer fanned {4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}. Tolbert continued for 175,000, and Tamayo called.

The turn was a third diamond - the {8-Diamonds} - and Tolbert slowed down, checking to Tamayo who bet 430,000. Tolbert tank-called.

The {8-Clubs} completed the board, both players checked, and Tolbert tabled {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for king-high. Tamayo sighed, then mucked his hand.

Rose Rakes One In

Level 32 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Clint Tolbert opened to 160,000 on the button, Mark Rose defended in the big blind, and the flop came {7-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. Rose check-called a bet of 125,000, and both players checked after the {2-Hearts} turned.

The river was the {9-Hearts}, both players checked again, and Rose turned over {a-Clubs}{4-Spades} for a pair of fours. Tolbert mucked his hand, and Rose raked in the pot.

William Looper Eliminated in 4th Place ($69,536)

Level 32 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
William Looper - 4th Place
William Looper - 4th Place

Clint Tolbert opened the action by raising to 160,000 from under the gun. William Looper peeked at his cards on the button and cut out a three-bet to 360,000. The blinds folded and Tolbert tanked for thirty seconds before announcing that he was all in. Looper heaved a sigh and dropped in a call for his tournament life.

Tolbert: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}
Looper: {J-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Looper was ahead at the moment but was racing with Tolbert's overcards. The flop brought even more outs for Tolbert when it fell {8-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Clubs}. The {7-Spades} on the turn gave Tolbert the ace-high flush and he skyrocketed into the lead in the hand.

Looper needed to catch a full house on the river to earn victory in this hand but the deck had a different idea. The river brought the {10-Clubs} and Tolbert was able to score the elimination. He now has about 5.7 million in chips.

Looper, on the other hand, will pocket a cool $69,536 for his efforts this weekend.

Mark Rose opened in first position, Jonathan Tamayo defended his big blind, and both players checked when the flop came {q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. The turn was the {2-Clubs}, Tamayo checked again, and Rose fired 160,000. Tamayo called.

The {9-Hearts} completed the board, Tamayo checked a final time, and Rose tossed out 260,000. Tamayo shrugged then called, and Rose revealed {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for a pair of jacks.

They were good.

Mark Rose opened to 120,000 in the cutoff seat, William Looper three-bet to 285,000 from the small blind, and Rose made the call. The flop fell {j-Hearts}{2-Spades}{6-Clubs}, both players checked, and the turn was the {a-Clubs}. The two checked again.

The {10-Spades} completed the board, and Looper led out for 130,000. Rose tank-called.

"Six," Looper announced, prompting Rose to rip over {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} for a pair of nines.

A few hands later, Jonathan Tamayo opened in first position and Rose called on the button. The dealer fanned {9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, Tamayo continued for 180,000, and Rose called. Looper-Scooper

Level 30 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Clint Tolbert made it 125,000 from the small blind and William Looper called from the big blind. The flop brought {5-Spades}{J-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Tolbert led for 120,000. Looper dipped into his stack and came out with a raise to 285,000.

Tolbert then sat motionless for a moment before coming right back over the top with a three-bet to 495,000. Looper riffled his chips and pondered his decision for a moment. The flop action was kept going after Looper decided to make a four-bet to an unknown amount. Tolbert quickly released and Looper took down the pot.
