Thompson's Fear and Loathing

Level 27 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Chris Thompson opened for 80,000 and Dustin Gardner re-raised to 180,000 from the small blind. Thompson called and the flop rolled out {7-Spades} {K-Hearts} {J-Clubs}. Gardner put out 325,000 and Thompson called. The turn produced the {6-Spades} and Gardner moved all in.

Thompson sighed deeply and took his time to make his decision. "I just can't do it," Thompson said under his breath as he folded.

Great MJ Cut Back Down

In the last hand before the level went up, and with about 350,000 in the pot on a flop of {2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{10-Hearts}, Dan Blakeman led out for 150,000 from the small blind only to have Michael "Great MJ" Cooper quickly toss out a raise to 325,000. Blakeman took a moment and then casually announced that he was all in with his superior stack.

Cooper, who had about 700,000 back, was left shaking his head before flinging his cards to the muck.

The Great MJ Doubles Through the Chip Leader

Michael "Great MJ" Cooper opened for a min-raise to 48,000 and was called by Chris Thompson. Both players proceeded to check the {3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} flop, and then Thompson moved all in on the {8-Clubs} turn. Cooper snap-called and the railbirds were on their feet.

Showdown

Cooper{A-Clubs}{4-Spades}
Thompson{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

Cooper had the best hand with two pair, but he needed to sweat Thompson's flush and straight draws. "Don't you do it to me," Cooper told the dealer with a smile, and he didn't. The {J-Hearts} fell harmlessly on the river and Cooper survived.

Great MJ Sliding

Action folded to Michael "Great MJ" Cooper in the cutoff and he opened for a raise to 51,000. Steve McClusky was next to act on the button and he announced a reraise before making it 251,000 to go. Both blinds folded, and Cooper opted to lay down his hand, dropping to 660,000 in the process.
