Dustin Gardner Eliminated in 5th Place ($49,093)

Dustin Gardner
Dustin Gardner

Action folded around to Dustin Gardner in the small blind and he limped, inspiring Kurt Jewell to exercise his option in the big with a raise to 115,000. Gardner looked at his opponent for a few moments before announcing all in for 1.44 million total.

Jewell seem interested but took his time and asked for a count. About 30 seconds later, he slid in a stack to represent a call.

Showdown

Gardner{A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}
Jewell{K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

Gardner clapped his hands together and was clearly excited he got it in good, but things grew serious on the {6-Clubs}{10-Spades}{J-Clubs} flop. Jewell had picked up an open-ended straight draw and a flush draw, so things were still very much up for grabs. The {7-Hearts} turn was of no consequence, but the {A-Hearts} river was. Jewell hit Broadway as he went to the rail to celebrate with his friends; meanwhile, a downtrodden Gardner shook hands with the table and made his exit in fifth place.

Michael "Great MJ" Cooper Eliminated in 7th Place ($29,013)

Last level, a short-stacked Michael "Great MJ" Cooper told Jacob Bazeley that he wanted him to have the rest of his chips. Ask and ye shall receive.

In the last hand, Cooper moved all in from middle position for 360,000 and received a call from Bazeley in the small blind.

Showdown

Cooper{K-Clubs}{K-Spades}
Bazeley{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

Cooper was way out in front and primed to double, but the {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop quickly diminished his hope. Cooper seemed stunned that Bazeley spiked a set and was up out of his seat before the {Q-Clubs} was even put out on the turn. He went to shake Bazeley's hand, which he did as the {9-Spades} peeled off on the river. Cooper was eliminated in seventh place.

Here We Go Again

Level 28 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

The players have returned from break and cards are back in the air. They will play two more levels and then break for dinner.

Level: 28

Blinds: 20,000/40,000

Ante: 5,000

We've Hit a Lull

Level 27 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Not much action to speak of in the last few minutes. The players have become quieter and have taken a more serious tone as they work up the pay jumps.

Jewell Takes Big Pot from Gardner

The action began when Dustin Gardner opened for 110,000 and Kurt Jewell called from the big blind. The flop came {6-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}, Jewell checked and Gardner bet 135,000. Jewell called to see the {9-Clubs} come on the turn. Jewell check-called 250,000 and the river came {3-Clubs}. Jewell checked a third time and Gardner finally slowed down and checked behind.

Jewell tabled {8-Clubs} {8-Hearts} and Gardner mucked his hand.

Todd Chew Eliminated in 8th Place ($22,744)

With around 370,000 in the pot and a board reading {J-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}, Chris Thompson checked, Todd Chew bet 200,000, and Thompson made the call, which lead to the {10-Hearts} on the river. Thompson put together some chips and came out with a bet of 250,000, and after a few moment's worth of though, Chew moved all in for 591,000 more.

Thompson chewed it over for about 30 seconds before making the call. Chew tabled {J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for top two pair, but Thompson rolled over {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for a straight. Chew made his way to the payout desk in eighth place while Thompson admitted he was afraid Chew might have rivered a flush.
