Saigokul Kannan Tops Flight and Takes Overall Chip Lead, Carr in Close Second

Day 1b of the PokerStars UKIPT London Main Event, running at the Hippodrome Casino, has now concluded. A total of 200 entries were made to the flight and 29 players made it through to Day 2 and into the money.

Saigokul Kannan of the United Arab Emirates finished out in front with 533,000, topping both flights to take his place as overall chip leader.

Paul Carr of Ireland finished close behind in second with bang on 500,000, while Oliver Hutchins of the UK bagged in third for 467,500.

PokerStars ambassador Barny Boatman made the top ten, while Adam McKola also bagged for Team PokerStars.

Tedium had set in across the room, the last few levels slow, the time ticking into the early hours of the morning. Nothing seemed to be happening. Until, over on Table 4, a pot had suddenly developed with three players all in.

Christian Choca Archinaut moved all in from under the gun for around ten big blinds. Darius Demetriou flat called in middle position. Then, Jamie Geraghty pushed all in over the top. Demetriou called the shove and three players pushed their chips in and flipped their cards.

The board ran out Q7778. All three players made a full house. Geraghty had the best of it with his aces. He won the pot and eliminated both Archinaut and Demetriou.

Allan Dyrstad open raised from early position, Christian Choca Archinaut called in the small blind and Gareth Devereux moved all in from the big blind with a short stack of 18,500. Dyrstad flat called the shove before Archinaut pushed all in over the top for around 75,000.

Dyrstad laid down his hand to leave two players in the pot. Devereux and Archinaut flipped their cards, with Devereux at risk.

The turn came the 5 and Johnson checked. Spragg bet 14,000, which Johnson called. The river was the 9 and Johnson checked again. The waiter brought over a glass of rose, but Spragg was in the zone as she moved all in for 37,000.

Johnson went into the tank and then eventually made the call. He showed 66 for two pair, nines and sixes. Spragg flipped over 55 for a full house, fives full of nines. She won the pot and sent Johnson to the rail.
