Johnson Eliminated By Damm

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Truman Johnson
Truman Johnson

Josh Damm opened to 60,000 on the button and Truman Johnson jammed for not much more from the small blind. The big blind folded and action was back on Damm who called.

Josh Damm: {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Truman Johnson: {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

It was a flip but Johnson's sweat didn't last long after the dealer dropped the {10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{q-Hearts} flop.

The {j-Spades} came on the turn and Johnson needed to find a third five to stay alive but the river fell the {8-Spades} ending his tournament.

All In Dark Results in Phan's Demise

Level 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Ryan Phan
Ryan Phan

Ryan Phan was sitting on a stack of 237,000 when he raised 100K from middle position. Chan Pelton thought for a bit in the cutoff before just calling and the rest of the players folded.

Before the dealer put out the flop, Phan announced that he was all in dark for his last 137,000 and Pelton snap-called him! Phan soon discovered the cooler as both players tabled their cards.

Ryan Phan: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Chan Pelton: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}

Phan failed to get lucky after the board ran out [10h4c1-djc6c] and he was ousted in 22nd place for $5,513.

Swanberg Finds Three Hooks to Crack Steinmetz's Aces

Level 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Rob Steinmetz
Rob Steinmetz

Ryan Swanberg open-jammed under the gun and action folded around to Rob Steinmetz who called for less from the big blind.

Rob Steinmetz: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Ryan Swanberg: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

Steinmetz waited patiently and finally woke up with a hand at a perfect time and was in good position to grab the much needed double, but the dealer had other plans dropping a {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{j-Spades} flop giving Swanberg trip jacks off the bat.

The {4-Hearts} came on the turn and Steinmetz needed the case ace to stay alive.

Unfortunately for Steinmetz it wouldn't be as the {2-Diamonds} river completed the board ending his tournament run.

JACK Cleveland Casino

As 2019 nears an end, it’s time to look ahead to the MSPT’s 11th Season, which will kick off with a $1,110 buy-in, $300K GTD Main Event at JACK Cleveland Casino in Cleveland, Ohio. PokerNews will be there to live report the Main Event.

The 2020 MSPT Cleveland Poker Open – a 21 or older event – will take place January 16-19 and will be preceded by a series of $70, $145 and $265 satellites where every single satellite boasts a 10-seat guarantee! The stop will mark the MSPT’s 164th Main Event and the fourth ever at JACK Cleveland Casino.

Click here for a look at the full schedule.

In 2018, the inaugural MSPT Cleveland Poker Open attracted 581 entrants and saw Abdul “Dulie” Amer, a good friend of poker pros Adam Friedman and Nick Guagenti, capture the title and $118,350 first-place prize.

The MSPT Season 10 Cleveland Poker Open last January drew 725 entries creating a $703,250 total prize pool, which made it by far the largest major poker tournament ($1K+ buy-in) in Cleveland’s history, breaking our own record from the previous year. In the end, it was Sean Munjal of Ann Arbor, Michigan, who navigated the field to take down a $140,654 first-place prize.

The property, which is open 24/7, is a 300,000-square-foot complex – 96,000 square feet are dedicated to gaming including slot machines, table games, and poker – the property is located inside the historic Higbee Building on Public Square, which is adjacent to the city’s entertainment district.

The casino, which is within minutes of Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse (Cavaliers), Progressive Stadium (Indians), the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and FirstEnergy Stadium (Browns), offers 1,600 slots with denominations from 1 cent all the way up to $500 per spin, as well as nearly 100 table games including Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, and several poker variants. In addition, poker players can grind it out in the 30-table poker room, which hosts games (hold’em, Omaha, 7-Card Stud, and Razz are all offered) around the clock.

Brandon Temple
Brandon Temple

Action on the table folded around to Brandon Temple who raised to 93,000 from the small blind, leaving himself with 1,000 left behind. Phil Mader turned over his cards and called thinking Temple was all in.

The flop fell {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. Temple knew that Mader spiked his king on the flop but tossed in his last 1,000 with hopes of hitting running cars.

Phil Mader: {k-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Brandon Temple: {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

The {9-Diamonds} came on the turn keeping Temple alive but the {j-Spades} river sealed the deal ending the PokerNews reporter's tournament in 26th place.
