Samuel Vousden Wins WCOOP Main Event

Samuel Vousden
Samuel Vousden

Samuel "€urop€an" Vousden sat down at the 2024 PokerStars World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP) Main Event with a reputation for being one of the toughest competitors in the tournament poker world. He leaves it as a world champion, a five-time WCOOP winner, and with $1,070,058 to show for his efforts in the $10,300 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em Main Event.

Vousden was fifth in chips when the star-studded final table commenced under the watchful eyes of the PokerStars Twitch stream, with a stack over three times smaller than chip leader Guillaume "Nolet20" Nolet. However, anyone who has watched the proud Finn in action knows that he never gives up and is always a danger while he has chips at his disposal.

Jones Does the Double in PLO Main Events

Gruffudd Pugh-Jones

There was a familiar face leading the final seven in the $10,300 WCOOP PLO Main Event, with last year's winner Martin "Imbajimbaa" Dam (pictured)looking to lock up back-to-back titles.

However, in the end it was Gruffudd "d.apollo777" Jones who took down the title and was crowned World Champion of Pot-Limit Omaha. He secured a heads-up deal with Dam that saw the defending champion take more money. But Jones came out on top in the end and secured victory.

Gruffudd "d.apollo777" Jones also went into the final day of the PLO-H Main event second in chips but was the chip leader at the final table of the $1,050 PLO-M Main Event with over $90,000 up top.

A familiar face was also involved, with "FAL1st" making it to the final seven as the current leader in the Overall WCOOP Leaderboard. Eventually, "FAL1st" would have to settle for fourth place and yet more points for presumptive WCOOP League winner Team peace&loove, and it was left to Jones to win his second WCOOP PLO Main Event title, less than one hour after his firs.t

Former Main Event champion Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz fell short of the money, with just 63 places paid. The unfortunate bubble boy was Alexey "avr0ra" Borovkov, with the likes of Ilya "Leqenden" Anatsky and Alexandros "Pwndidi" Theologis finishing in the money.

Veldhuis Hunts PLO Main Event Title

Lex Veldhuis

All three PLO Main Events will play down to a winner on October 1, but all eyes will be on WCOOP 111-L: $109 PLO Main Event with just 18 players remaining from a field of 2,103.

Sitting fourth in chips is Lex "L. Veldhuis" Veldhuis who will be licking his lips at the prospect of adding another title and taking home the $31,378 top prize, after winning his first WCOOP trophy earlier this series.

Leading the way is "vavan199212" with the only other WCOOP League participant being Team Spraggy's Simon "C. Darwin2" Mattsson who sits eighth in chips.
