"Sintoras" Rakes in the Largest Prize on Day 1

Only five events concluded on Day 1 of the 2024 PokerStars WCOOP, with 13 others progressing to their respective Day 2s. One of the completed events, WCOOP 02-M: $55 NLHE WCOOP Kickoff, awarded the largest prize of the opening day.

A bumper crowd of 4,256 players created a $226,300 prize pool, and "Sintoras" helped themselves to the lion's share of that pot. Their latest in a long line of victories came with a $32,247 payout, gifting "Sintoras" plenty of ammunition for the upcoming WCOOP events.

Of the in-play events that finish on September 9, at least two could have a significant impact on the WCOOP League. Niklas "Lena900" Astedt (Team Tonkaaaa) is the chip leader with only 29 remaining in WCOOP 06-H: $1,050 NLHE 6-Max while Patrick "pads1161" Leonard finds himself in the top 15 of WCOOP 04-H: $1,050 NLHE Progressive KO Sunday High Roller with 49 players remaining.

Everyone who bought into a PokerStars WCOOP event on the opening day had everything crossed so they'd come out with a victory. Poland-based star "Tr!pleeeee" did exactly that, triumphing in the WCOOP 07-H: $530 NLHE Turbo PKO event for a combined prize worth $28,406.

Some 338 players bought in, and "Tr!pleeeee" outlasted them all. They not only padded their poker bankroll with $28,406, but they collected 115 WCOOP Leaderboard points, putting them in pole position even if the 2024 WCOOP is still in its infancy.

Team Akkari

The 2024 PokerStars WCOOP is up and running, and Team Akkari has wasted no time in accumulating points for the hotly-contested WCOOP League. Team Tonkaaaa finds itself only 10 points behind the leaders after Niklas "Lena900" Astedt finished seventh in the $109 NLHE Turbo Progressive Knockout.

  • Team Akkari – 85 points
  • Team Tonkaaaa – 75 points
  • Team Lex – 50 points
  • Team Fintan – 45 points
  • Team Huber – 25 points
  • Team Spraggy – 0 points

As you can see, it has not been the best of starts for Team Spraggy, captained by the ever-popular Benjamin Spragg. Despite being able to call upon the likes of Kelvin "kelvin_fp:ar" Kerber, Simon "C. Darwin2" Mattsson, Daniel "SmilleThHero" Smiljkovic, and "Revenge4Dodo," Team Spraggy drew a blank on Day 1 and are the only WCOOP League team without a point to show for their efforts.
