Terence Wu has just wandered past the press desk and was kind enough to tell us of his demise. It sounds like a bit of a setup hand to be honest, and according to Wu the action was limped around and he came along for the ride in the small blind.
Wu thought he had hit gin with on the flop but unfortunately, the player on the button had limped and flopped the nuts and that was that for Wu’s first bullet.
Damaso Garcia was one of the larger stacks for a large part of yesterday’s Day 1E but came up just short so is having another go today. So far that seems to be working out pretty well for the Spaniard and we arrived in time to see Garcia send an unfortunate opponent to the rail.
We picked up the action on the turn with over 15,000 already in the pot with the board spread just as Garcia’s opponent moved all-in for his last 8,500. Garcia made a quick call and when the cards were turned over we could see why. Garcia’s opponent had but was trailing to the Spaniard’s . The river saw Garcia win the hand and stack up to 29,500 while his opponent headed for the rail.
The Day 1E field has grown quickly to 211 entries, with 161 of those still in the running. One of the more recent arrivals is China’s Juicy Sixiao Li, whom we caught in action in the following heads-up hand.
We arrived on the turn with close to 5,000 already in the pot with the community cards spread just as Li checked the action over to her opponent, who fired for 1,800.
Li check-raised all-in for 6,900 in total, which was enough to take down the pot and she is now back up to just below starting stack with 14,000.
A multi-way limped pot has recently worked out pretty well for Eric Xiao, who has just earned himself a double at the expense of Steven Pang. It all started with a limp from a player in middle position with Bart Luyckx (cutoff), a player in the hi-jack and Pang (button) all making the call, as did the small blind and big blind Eric Xiao.
So the action went six-way to a flop of . The small blind checked Xiao needed no further prompting and bombed the flop for his entire stack – a bet of 6,625 in total. The action folded to Pang on the button and he was the only caller.
Eric Xiao:
Steven Pang:
Both Xiao and Pang had paired their ten, but Xiao held the lead with the better kicker. The turn gave both players a straight draw but the river saw Xiao win the pot and double back to starting stack and Pang drop to 7,000.
We caught the active Zhao Yanchao and Korea’s Hyoung Suob Shim involved in a big pot and picked up the action on the turn with the community cards spread with close to 10,000 in the pot already.
Yanchao was in the big blind and had led for 4,500 and Shim made the call to bring in the river. The Chinese player checked once more and Shim fired for 8,000. Yanchao picked up his hand and flashed Shim the for the straight in an attempt to get a read on the Korean but Shim was giving nothing away. Eventually, Yanchao threw in the call and the cards were turned over. Yanchao tabled and Shim had for an anti-climatic chop.
