Neves Gets River Value From Martirosian

Level 30 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Pedro Neves
Pedro Neves

Artur Martirosian opened to 260,000 on the button with the {a-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Pedro Neves defended the big blind with the juicy looking {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. The {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop gave Neves a straight and flush draw, with which he check-called a bet of 250,000. Both headed to the {2-Spades} turn and no betting action led to the {3-Diamonds} on the river.

Neves bet 800,000 and Martirosian instantly called to see his stack dwindle further.

Dattani Raises River

Level 30 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Artur Martirosian opened to 450,000 from the small blind and Michel Dattani defended from the big blind.

Both players had a piece of the {q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop as Martirosian had bottom pair with his {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} while Dattani had middle pair with the {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}.

Dattani called a bet of 210,000 which brought in the {6-Hearts} turn. Both players checked and then Dattani made a straight on the {5-Clubs} river.

Martirosian then used up a time bank before betting out another 950,000. Dattani raised to 1,900,000 after he himself took advantage of his collection of time bank cards. Martirosian folded.

Martirosian Gets No Thin Value From Neves

Level 30 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Artur Martirosian opened to 450,000 out of the small blind with the {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Michel Dattani folded the {10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}.

On the button next, Martirosian opened to 260,000 with the {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and scooped the blinds and big blind ante.

Pedro Neves limped the small blind with the {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Martirosian checked his option with the {q-Clubs}{3-Spades}, which led them to the {q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop. The chip leader checked and Martirosian checked back the top pair.

After the {8-Clubs} turn, Neves checked once more and so did Martirosian to see the {10-Clubs} river for free. Neves checked the third street in a row and Martirosian bet just 275,000 but didn't get any value from Neves.

Pedro Neves
Pedro Neves

Pedro Neves limped in the small blind with {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} and Artur Martirosian checked in the big blind with {j-Clubs}{4-Clubs}.

Neves bet 120,000 on the {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop and Martirosian called with his pair of jacks. On the {3-Spades} turn, Neves fired a second barrel of 450,000. Again, Martirosian called.

The {7-Diamonds} river completed the board and Neves remained ahead. He then made it 1,100,000 and Martirosian quickly called and then mucked after seeing Neves' aces.

Alexandre Raymond Eliminated in 4th Place ($519,600)

Level 30 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Alexandre Raymond
Alexandre Raymond

Pedro Neves opened to 240,000 from under the gun and Alexandre Raymond three-bet to 925,000 out of the small blind.

"You are playing 5.4 or something?" Neves inquired and Raymond nodded.

Neves used one time bank to then four-bet to 1,900,000 and Raymond then announced all-in for 5,555,000 which Neves called with the slightly covering stack.

Alexandre Raymond: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Pedro Neves: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{10-Spades} flop changed nothing, nor did the {2-Clubs} turn. After the {3-Diamonds} river, Raymond was eliminated in 4th place for $519,600 and became the last PokerStars online qualifier to bow out.

Level 30 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
PN Pod Mori Eskandani
PN Pod Mori Eskandani

In the latest PokerNews Podcast episode of 2023, Chad Holloway and Connor Richards handle things while Jesse Fullen is in Australia. They discuss Mike Postle’s sudden reappearance in the poker world after making a final table at the Million Dollar Heater at Beau Rivage in Mississippi, while also talking about the slowroll and needle that accompanied his bust out.

They try to balance that story with a heart-warming one where Johnnie “Johnnie Vibes” Moreno put a bartender into the MSPT Sycuan Main Event, with the recreational player going on to finish in fourth place for $40,000!

Other stories discussed include WSOP.com Player of the Years, Lon McEachern and Daniel Lowery winning WSOP Circuit gold rings, and early winners from the PokerGO Cup.

Speaking of which, PokerGO’s Mori Eskandani joins the show as this week’s guest. The Poker Hall of Famer talks 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) preparations, who came close to challenging Jason Koon on High Stakes Duel III (HSD), plus when we can expect the next HSD match to take place. He also discussed new developments to this year’s PokerGO Tour (PGT) and shared memories from the days when the Mirage was the hot spot for poker in Vegas.
