David Pecheur opened before the flop and Matti Konttinen from Finland made the call from the hijack. Josy Laurent Benhayoun in the small blind pushed all in for 3,450 and his neighbor Viacheslav Goryachev in the big blind cold called. Pecheur and Konttinen made the call as well and the four of them were to see a flop.
Everyone checked on and so the on the turn was for free. Action checked to Konttinen and he bet out 5,025. Both Goryachev and Pecheur folded and Kontinnen showed for the turned set.
Goryachev wasn't drawing dead just yet though, with he had some split pot and full house outs. Neither would come with the and the tournament lost another player.
We picked up with the action to find PokerStars Team Online Pro Ronan Monfort and Dominique Franchi looking down at a completed board of . With a sizable pot already in the middle, Franchi checked over to Monfort. Monfort flicked out a single T5,000 chip, announcing a bet of what sounded like 4,100.
Franchi called the bet, prompting the two to show down their hands. Monfort confidently rolled over for a full house of jacks full of sevens. Franchi mucked his cards and Monfort was pushed a pot that brought his stack up to 59,500.
The 200th player just registered for the event. That makes for 6,000,000 chips in play. Devided by 158 remaining players, that makes for an average of almost 38,000.
Poland's most successful tournament player, EPT High Roller and Main Event winner Dominik Panka, discusses the state of poker in Poland and reflects on his successful 2014.
We mentioned earlier in the day that Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov was a runner up in the Main Event here last year. Also in the field today is Giacomo Fundaro from Italy who finished second to Victoria Coren-Mitchell at EPT San Remo Main Event last year enabling the first two-times winner to be crowned.
Fundaro’s hunt for that elusive first EPT title has just suffered a major setback. The under-the-gun player opened for 900 and Fundaro, next to act, made it 3,000. Action folded round to Dimitrios Ballas who had a look at Fundaro’s stack and then moved all in for just shy of 13,000.
The initial raiser got out of the way and Fundaro made the call, turning over . Ballas was at risk with his .
The flop of shot Ballas into the lead andhe would retain it as the turn and river put a big dent in Fundaro’s stack and doubled up Ballas.
Dominik Nitsche was crippled in a hand not too long a go, and just now was nowhere to be seen anymore. We asked Jorma Nuutinen, and again we were talking to the right guy as Nuutinen told us he was responsible for Nitsche hitting the rail.
Nuutinen told us he had opened with and called after Nitsche shoved his last 5,000 in with . Neither player would hit and Nuutinen could start stacking. He's still down since our last count though, so he must have lost a big pot before that.
On a board of , a player checked over to Patrice Brandt in late position. Brandt reached for chips and moved 3,500 past the betting line. His lone opponent came over the top with a check-raise to 7,500 and Brandt called.
The dropped down on the river and action checked back to Brandt. He bet 6,075 and his opponent instantly called, tabling for a rivered Broadway straight. It was no good, however, as Brandt showed for quad queens and the best possible hand. Brandt raked in the chips and brought his stack up to about 79,000.
Martins Adeniya was in the big blind and called an open from Jonathan Little.
The flop was and Adeniya check-called a bet of 1,200 from Little. The turn card was the and another check from Adeniya saw Little quickly pick up a variety of chip denominations before throwing out a bet of 2,900.
Adeniya gave it some thought but, with around 21,000 behind, he stole a few glances ant the impassive Little before letting his hand go.
Very soon after Adeniya had got to the river of a board reading and faced a bet of 3,000 from Mindaugas Jonuskis. He made the call but the cards would end up face down in the muck when he was shown his opponent’s .
It's not panic stations yet though for Adeniya who still has over 40 big blinds and the patience and concentration to mount a fight back.
