Simunic Cracks Kings to Stay Alive

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

The action folded to Josip Simunic in the small blind and he moved all in for 800,000. Fady Kamar peeked at his cards and snap-called, tabling the {K-Spades} {K-Clubs}. Simunic had exactly that hand twice earlier today out of the big blind to double up and this time he needed help with the {6-Hearts} {6-Spades}.

With the {6-Clubs} as door card, the rail of the Austrian started cheering and the rest of the board ran out {Q-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {4-Spades} {7-Spades} to award the pot to Simunic. He would raise the button for 85,000 the next hand and fold to the shove of Kamar though.

Kamar Takes A Pot

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Fady Kamar opened for 90,000 under the gun and faced a three-bet to 170,000 Robin Ylitalo when the blinds folded. Kamar made the call.

The flop was {3-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Spades} and Kamar check-called Ylitalo’s 160,000 bet. The turn {9-Hearts} and river {5-Clubs} were both checked and Kamar showed his {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for the winner.

Kamar a Millionaire

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Fady Kamar first moved all in against a 85,000-raise of Robin Ylitalo and then raised 100,000 from the button. Jean-Noel Thorel defended his big blind and then bet the {8-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {5-Clubs} flop for 125,000. Kamar called and they checked down the {8-Hearts} turn. A {3-Clubs} river completed the board and Thorel grabbed another 125,000 to put Kamar to the test. The Lebanese eventually called and Thorel showed his {A-Diamonds} {4-Spades}. Kamar turned over {A-Spades} {10-Spades} and won the pot.

One hand later, Kamar raised to 100,000 and Thorel reraised to 220,000 out of the small blind. The Lebanese moved all in and was awarded the pot after the fold of Thorel.

Joao Ribeiro Eliminated in 7th Place (€54,680); Eric Sfez Eliminated in 6th Place (€71,520)

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Joao Ribeiro - 7th, Eric Sfez - 6th
Joao Ribeiro - 7th, Eric Sfez - 6th

Joao Ribeiro moved all in for 357,000 and Eric Sfez, sat to his immediate left, moved in over the top for 650,000. Robin Ylitalo wanted a count of both their stacks before he too announced he was all in.

Josip Simunic in the big blind said he didn’t want to look at his cards but did and folded so it was a three-way all in.

Ribeiro: {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}

Sfez: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

Ylitalo: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The players were on their feet to watch as the cards came out {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and the jacks held to see Ylitalo knock two players out in one fell swoop.

Kamar Doubles With Aces

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Eric Sfez raised to 64,000 from under the gun and called the shove of Fady Kamar out of the small blind for 254,000 in total. Sfez had a decent hand with {10-Hearts} {10-Spades} but he was still crushed by the {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} of the Lebanese. There would be no surprise on a board of {5-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {5-Diamonds} and the short stack doubled up.

Awkward Stacks

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

There haven’t been many flops recently as the relative stack sizes of the remaining players mean there is little scope for post-flop play. Ivan Luca, Fady Kamar, Joao Ribeiro have each been all in before the flop and each time have seen the players behind peek at their hole cards and fold with a shake of the head.

A recent exception to this was a 75,000 open from Josip Simunic where Jean-Noel Thorel defended his bug blind. A flop of {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} saw Thorel fold to a 78,000 continuation bet.

Simunic Folds the Turn

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Jean-Noel Thorel opened to 75,000 from the button and Josip Simunic defended his big blind to see a flop of {6-Spades} {9-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}. The Austrian checked and so did Thorel before Simunic then check-folded the {7-Hearts} turn to a bet of 100,000 by Thorel.
