Thorel Battling

Level 25 : 25,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Jean-Noel Thorel is still playing with a smile on his face, remaining active and cracking jokes with his opponents.

Thorel opened for 11,000 in first position and Robin Ylitalo looked him up from the big blind. The flop was {j-Hearts}{2-Spades}{k-Hearts} and Ylitalo check-called a bet of 150,000.

The turn card {4-Spades} and river {7-Clubs} were checked and Ylitalo turned over {k-Clubs}{4-Clubs}.

“Two pair! You always have two pair”.” Thorel said.

Ivan Luca Eliminated in 5th Place (€90,690)

Level 25 : 25,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Ivan Luca - 5th place
Ivan Luca - 5th place

The action folded to Ivan Luca and he moved all in. Just prior to the hand, Robin Ylitalo had already inquired about his stack size as he was in the big blind next. Josip Simunic glanced over to the dealer and asked "can I have a count please?" It was 1,040,000 to call and the Austrian also inquired about the stack of his neighbor, Fady Kamar, who held the shortest stack around 850,000.

Another half a minute passed by and Simunic then announced "I am all in." Kamar quickly folded and Ylitalo also gave up his big blind. "Please tell me you have ace-jack," Luca said to his opponent and turned over the {7-Clubs} {7-Spades}. Simunic flipped over {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} and then went over to the rail, telling his buddies "we are flipping guys."

The {6-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {8-Hearts} flop was great for the Argentinian as he now also had an open ended straight draw. However, the {A-Hearts} turn improved the hand of the Austrian and he held up with the {4-Clubs} as final community card. Luca recorded yet another final table cash here in Deauville and walks away with €90,690 for his efforts, Simunic is the new chip leader.

Ylitalo Returns the Favor

Level 25 : 25,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Earlier in the level Josip Simunic had shoved into a min-raise by Robin Ylitalo and the Swede just returned the favor. Simunic had raised the third out of the last four hands, this time for 105,000. Ylitalo moved all in for 1.25 million and enforced a fold after some consideration.

Kamar King-High Call

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Fady Kamar
Fady Kamar

Fady Kamar opened under the gun for 110,000 and Josip Simunic in the big blind made the call.

The flop was {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Simunic check-called an 80,000 bet from Kamar. Both players checked the turn card {8-Diamonds} and when the {8-Spades} hit the river Simunic led out for 170,000.

Kamar took some time to make his decision, counting out his stack carefully. Eventually he did call and Simunic showed {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. Kamar tabled the winner {k-Spades}{10-Clubs} and stod up from the table in delight and relief that his king high call was good.

Quick Action So Far

Level 25 : 25,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

The first hand in the new level started with a button-raise of Jean-Noel Thorel and Josip Simunic called out of the big blind. On a flop of {7-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {3-Spades} the Austrian checked and folded to a bet of 125,000. Thorel flashed the {3-Clubs} with a big grin on his face.

Then, Robin Ylitalo raised to 110,000 and folded to a shove by Simunic before Ivan Luca's 100,000-raise was shot down by the Austrian with a three-bet to 240,000. Luca made up for the loss by stealing the blinds the next hand and called a min-raise of Thorel in a battle of the blinds.

After a flop of {10-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {A-Spades}, Thorel bet 100,000 and the Argentinian folded. The table was shown the {A-Hearts} by Thorel.

Time for Another Break

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

In the last hand of the level, Robin Ylitalo limped from the button and Jean-Noel Thorel called out of the small blind. Ivan Luca had other plans and announced a raise, making it 180,000 in total. Ylitalo folded quickly and Thorel exposed {A-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} before throwing them into the muck as well. "I am giving you a donation," the Frenchman said.

15-minute break for the final five players. During that break, the yellow T-1,000 chip denominations will be raced off as they are no longer needed.
