Danchev Busts Another One

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Helge Pedersen shoved from the cutoff for his remaining 81,000, and next up Dimitar Danchev on the button made the call. Both blinds folded, and another showdown was at hand for Danchev.

Danchev: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Pedersen: {K-Spades}{J-Hearts}

The {5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts} gave Pedersen some additional outs, but he wouldn't hit any with the {8-Spades} on the turn and {4-Clubs} on the river.

Ylitalo Takes a Hat Stand

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Robin Ylitalo - Hat's On
Robin Ylitalo - Hat's On

You may have heard something about the decision to ban T-shirts bearing political slogans at the EPT. We won’t rehash all the details here as the debate is still raging in the blogsphere.

At one of the outer tables sits Robin Ylitalo and the problem is not a T-shirt, rather it is his hat bearing the slogan, “Go F#ck Your Selfie.”

Cameras are wandering the floor to capture key hands and one of the production crew confirmed to us that it was not suitable for broadcast. If it did appear in shot it would be most likely have to be blurred out.

At the time of going to press we can confirm that the hat is still perched on top of Ylitalo’s head and his courageous one man protest against the invidious selfie craze continues. We will keep you abreast of developments as and when they happen.

Danchev Busts Zbikowski

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

From the small blind, Dimitar Danchev moved all in to ask big blind Mateusz Zbikowski to decide if he wanted to call and put his tournament life at risk. After a little bit of thinking, Zbikowski made the call en they put the cards on their backs.

Mateusz Zbikowski: {K-Hearts}{7-}
Dimitar Danchev: {Q-Spades}{5-Spades}

The {Q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} on the flop helped Danchev, and the {Q-Clubs} on the turn settled it. The {2-Clubs} on the river was a blank, and Zbikowski left for the exit.

My River with Andrey

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Sakis Nicolau and Alberto Gomez Gomez (so good they named him twice) were both more than happy to get their chips in on the turn of a {5-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{10-Clubs} board with {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades} and {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} respectively. Andrey Andreev decided to put his chips in as well with {J-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and promptly hit the {8-Clubs} on the river to treble up.

Nicolau and Gomez were not too impressed.

The Crazy Bubble Explained

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

The bubble during the EPT 11 Barcelona Main Event was very exciting as five people were knocked out on the same hand. Head of Live Poker Operations, PokerStars Europe Neil Johnson gave a detailed explanation of what happened and emphasized that the situation at hand was extremely rare.

Two-time World Poker Tour winner Randal Flowers had the unlucky honour to bubble both the EPT 11 Barcelona Main Event and the following Sit and Go for a Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $10,000,000 Guaranteed.

Brazilian Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari has just been eliminated from the tournament. He found himself all in before the flop with {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} up against Pavel Plesuv's {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}.

The {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{6-Spades} was still ok for Akkari, but the {10-Diamonds} on the turn ended his tournament. The {J-Spades} on the river was there just to make things official and he exited in 135th place.

Frizyak Furious, Out

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

We arrived at the table to see an angry Sergey Frizyak on his feet loudly insisting that his opponent’s cards were dead and that he should be awarded the pot. The floor was called and the dealer explained what had happened.

Berthold Winz opened the action for 13,000 and Frizyak had moved all in. The dealer had thought she had heard Winz say, “Fold.” and turn his cards face up to show what he was folding which was {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}. The dealer had then put his cards on top of the muck pile but they were now back in front of him having been easily retrievable.

Winz said, “I said clearly call.” The rest of the table agreed they too heard call. Frizayak was insisting the cards were in the muck and therefore dead. To emphasise his point he grabbed the cards and put them face down in the muck again. The floor retrieved them once more and ruled that it was an honest mistake by the dealer and the cards were live. “Then the dealer is the problem.” Frizyak spat.

The ruling had been made, Frizyak was at risk with {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, and the cards ran out {8-Hearts}{j-Spades}{a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Spades}. Frizyak stormed off.

Robert Eliminated by Shak

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Vincent Robert just found himself all in before the flop hlding a dominated {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}. Robert had his chips in from the hijack, while his neighbor Shak in the cutoff had {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}.

The {6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} flop was kind of scary for Shak, but the {5-Spades} on the turn and {9-Hearts} on the river were blanks. Robert shook hands with Shak, and made his exit.
