Moraes Takes from Kolonias

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Rafael da Silva Moraes first lost some chips and then got them back against Max Silver by firing two barrels worth 90,000 on the {8-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop and 150,000 on the {2-Hearts} turn. Silver check-called the first one but check-folded to the second.

Then, Alexandros Kolonias opened to 100,000 from the small blind and Moraes called. The flop fell {10-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts} and Kolonias continued for 70,000, which the Brazilian called. On the {7-Clubs} turn, Kolonias checked and then called the 160,000-bet by Moraes before checking again the {7-Spades} river.

Moraes announced all in and Kolonias asked him if he had any green chips behind. Moraes shook his head and counted out the all in for 654,000 in total. That was about half the stack of Kolonias and resulted in a fold of the Greek.

Papazian Doubles Through Stern

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Zvi Stern seemed to be fully taking over control of table one but that mission just took a setback. On the three-way flop {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{3-Clubs}, Alexandru Papazian bet 90,000 and Stern called, [Removed:2] folded.

The {7-Hearts} fell on the turn and Papazian bet 225,000. Stern glanced over at the stack of his opponent and then moved all in to put Papazian at risk for around 600,000, which received a snap-call by the Romanian.

Papazian: {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}
Stern: {6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

The {5-Hearts} river was a blank and Papazian doubled up for 594,000 to see Stern drop back below two million in chips.

Stern Extends His Lead

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

[Removed:2] raised under the gun to 65,000 and Zvi Stern called from the big blind. The flop came down {6-Hearts}{K-Spades}{9-Spades} and Stern check-called a bet of 75,000.

On the turn the {6-Diamonds} hit and again Stern checked. This time Maksoud bet 145,000 and the Israeli former November Niner made the call.

The river completed the board with the {J-Hearts} and now both players checked.

"Aah, I missed a bet," Stern said, as he showed {Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for trips.

Maksoud mucked and Stern picked up yet another pot.

Stern Meets Papazian ... Twice

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Zvi Stern was the initial raiser and Alexandru Papazian defended the big blind to see the flop come {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. Both checked and Papazian then bet the {10-Hearts} turn for 55,000. Stern called before they checked down the {J-Spades} river.

Papazian showed {A-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for ace-high and Stern was about to muck, but then checked his cards again. "Oh wait, I am good, I thought I had king-six," the start-of-the-day chip leader said and tabled the winning {K-Spades}{7-Diamonds}.

One hand later, Stern raised again and Papazian flatted before check-folding the {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{J-Spades} turn.

Derwiche's Bluff Gets Caught

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Imad Derwiche defended his big blind against the raise by Zvi Stern in the under-the-gun position and they headed to a flop of {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. Derwiche checked, Stern bet 65,000 and was called to see the {2-Clubs} on the turn.

Now both players slowed down and checked before Derwiche led the {Q-Hearts} river for 100,000. Some small talk followed and Derwiche agreed to show his cards if Stern would show as well. Eventually, he had to show as Stern tank-called and Derwiche nodded and flashed {J-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a busted draw.

The pot was shipped to Stern, who held {A-Spades}{8-Spades} and quickly established the image as most aggressive player at his table again.

Zinno Gets Value From Stern

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

The board read {10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds} when we saw Zvi Stern bet 75,000 from the big blind and Anthony Zinno made the call from the button. On the river the {K-Clubs} hit, and Zinno quickly bet 75,000 after Stern checked.

Stern leaned back in his chair - smiled - and took of his glasses as he tried to figure Zinno out.

About a minute went by before Stern called, and Zinno tabled {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for two pair. Stern mucked, and Zinno picked up this pot.
