Wheeler Takes from Kaverman

Level 20 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Jason Wheeler finished fourth in the € 25,000 + 750 #16 No Limit Hold'em - High Roller - 8 Handed yesterday and is back at the final table of yet another High Roller Event. Wheeler just snapped off the 250,000 river bet by Byron Kaverman on the board {10-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Kaverman flipped over the {8-Spades}{9-Hearts}. Wheeler had the {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds} for top pair and moved up to more than two million in chips.

Jason Mercier Eliminated in 10th Place (€26,645)

Level 20 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Jason Mercier

In a battle of the blinds, Jason Mercier moved all in for 750,000 from the small blind and Steve O'Dwyer called from one seat over.

Mercier: {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}
O'Dwyer: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}

The Team PokerStars Pro was in dire need of help, but the flop {6-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} flop was the exact opposite. It was all over after the {Q-Diamonds} turn and the meaningless {8-Diamonds} river completed the board.

Double-Double

Level 20 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Jean-Noel Thorel
Jean-Noel Thorel

Jason Wheeler shoved {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} from the button, Jean-Noel Thorel woke up with aces in the small blind and re-shoved. The big blind folded and the flop fell {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts} giving Wheeler an open-ender.

No waiting as the {k-Diamonds} appeared on the turn and Wheeler doubled.

A hand later, Thorel opened to 125,000 and Ilari Sahamies pushed in. Thorel called with {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and was flipping with Sahamies' {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}. The board rolled out [ahkdadcjh4d] and although Thorel made a flush, Sahamies doubled with a full house.

Jussi Nevanlinna Eliminated in 11th Place (€26,645)

Level 19 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Jussi Nevanlinna
Jussi Nevanlinna

It was a drama in three acts that saw Jussi Nevanlinna depart in 11th place. After the elimination of Christopher Frank, Vlado Banicevic said that there was supposed to be a single big blind and the dealer proceeded with the action. Nevanlinna then moved all in before they realized that Jean-Noel Thorel should have been in the small blind and Banicevic in the big blind.

Floor was called and it was ruled that the action stands as it is with Thorel in the big blind. Nevanlinna's all in went through uncalled and two hands later, Banicevic was in the small blind and shoved with {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}. Nevanlinna called with {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and the board ran out {8-Spades}{J-Clubs}{J-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. Banicevic doubled for 485,000 and Nevanlinna was left with one ante only, forced all in the next hand from the small blind.

Banicevic limped from the button and Ilari Sahamies shoved the big blind to enforce a fold. Nevanlinna's {K-Spades}{3-Hearts} ended up second best to the {A-Clubs}{10-Spades} of Sahamies on a board of {8-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and he took 11th place.

Christopher Frank Eliminated in 12th Place (€23,395)

Level 19 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Christopher Frank

Niko Soininen min-raised the button and Christopher Frank shoved the small blind for his last 200,000.

After the big blind folded, Soininen made the call with the {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}, trailing Frank's {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}.

All that changed after the {q-Spades}{2-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop, with Soininen picking up a pair. After the {3-Clubs} turn and {4-Clubs} river, Soininen actually made a flush and Frank hit the rail 12th.

Thorel Scoops Massive Pot against Frank

Level 19 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Jean-Noel Thorel reraised to 200,000 preflop and initial raiser Christopher Frank called. On the flop {Q-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, Frank checked and Thorel bet 275,000 to receive a call. Both players then checked the {J-Clubs} turn before Frank bet the {10-Diamonds} river for 350,000. Thorel raised to 800,000 and the young German sighed "oh god."

After some consideration, he slid forward the chips for the call and Thorel flashed his {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for the nut flush.
